While the size of the boot might be a bit small, the intensity of the hop flavor and aroma in Size 7 more than makes up for it. We take prodigious amounts of hops and add them any chance we get to this Northwest style IPA. If you ever call Size 7 balanced we’ll kick you where it hurts (in the hop sack).

Has a light pine and citrus in ths aroma but the flavor is more murky, more vegetal. I find the finish a little difficult to take, as it is both a bit bitter and soapy. Not to my liking. Bottle.

Draft, thanks daniwerks. Crystal clear amber body with small off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine, some grapefruit, light orange. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, bread, some orange, pine. Resinous medium body.

Clear amber pour, white head and lots of white lacing. Big citrus in the nose. Big hops and citrus continue in the taste with some nice malt sweetness underlying. Straight yum.

22 oz. bottle, seen from mista (thanks a lot, Geoff), pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is quite subtle, full of piney hops and some floral notes. Flavour brings out loads of pine cones, floral hops, a little grapefruit rind and a thin crackery malt backbone. Very hop forward, with a highly astringent finish. Dry palate, dominated by shitloads of pine. Despite the high astringency, this is a pleasure to drink. Great stuff.

Tap. Dark gold color, citrus and pine aroma. Nice initial crisp and fresh taste, but falls flat late. Good for an ipa.

On tap at the Republic in Minneapolis. Huge floral aromas with this one. Very, very bitter. Sort of a hoppy mess. Decent, but a bit more muddled than I like my IPAs.

Appearance: Amber-orange under a voluminous rocky patchy head which fades in clumps. Full collar of lace. Swirls lovely and thick.
Nose: Pink grapefruit. Mandarin oranges in the back. Wintergreen and Christmas trees.
Palate: Grapefruit and pine trees. Pine sap and grapefruit oils in the middle. Grassy. Key lime grabs my tongue in the back of each swallow and doesn’t let go. White grapefruit pith along the sides – makes my tongue tingle. Bitter rind in the front of every sip. As it warms up the bitter rind mingles with the key lime in the back.
Final Thoughts: An interesting take on the India Pale Ale style from Steel Toe Brewing. Good flavor and good balance. I really enjoyed it but on the flipside, there really wasn’t anything special about it either to make it stand out from other IPAs. Solid but not special.

Beautiful west coast IPA. Tons of floral citrus hops in the nose balanced by a wonderful biting hop flavor and bitterness.

In short: A very clean nourishing citrusy/floral/resinous golden IPA. Good beer.
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed relatively fresh soon after receiving the bottle from oakbluff, thanks Scott.
The look: Crystal clear golden-orange body topped by a persistent small off-white head.
In long: The medium-hoppy nose is part-flora part-citrusy (mangos, apricots) with resinous undertones. Smells like a good old-fashion IPA from the glory days of the 3-Cs. Taste has a relatively thick pale malt backbone, chewy-bready, somewhat oily and with a nice caramel. Hopping is juicy-citrusy and flower juice, plenty of hops essence abound, somewhat resinous. Bitterness of medium intensity. Not a hop-bomb and not a sweet IPA either, this is a well balanced old-fashion 2004 IPA. More nourishing than refreshing. I personally prefer my IPAs a bit dryer, a bit sharper and more refreshing, but this is a very made beer for what it is. Very clean and very professional, like drinking a new Stone IPA or something like that. Certainly not the most original IPA (by-the-book and very clean) but this is the type of beer I can drink all night long, and I love getting drunk, except for the part about seeing double at 3am when I’m all happy and then all sad when I finally realize that there is in fact only one slice of pizza in my plate.

Bomber. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A light sweet nose with lemons and caramel. A really nice flavor with big balance between light biscuit and caramel malts, rich citrus and low bitterness, apricot and tangerine. Really smooth and clean.
