fredthecat (31), Canada Jun 15, 2008 a cool beer like a more bitter chain, tasted pretty good even when it was warm. copperhead is a strange name for it.. but whatever it might supplant chain as the standby 5.5 steelback. beyond awesome bang for the buck mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 11, 2008 [1205-20080316] 710mL can. Smells like fish scales and toasted frog skins. Clear, amber brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Toasted cereal grains flavour has a mild malty background. Light-medium body. Gross aroma. JesseM (365), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Jun 9, 2008 Updated: Jun 13, 2008710ml "Tub" can (I’m pretty sure it’s about 8 months old too, "J 077" is the code on the bottom, as in 7 October 2007, "Preservative Free", pff, haha, yeah right) from the Brewers Retail. Not sure why I put myself through this, I guess just to experience the wonder that is the old Steelback before it’s gone forever. Pours a nice looking deep amber with a huge, rocky, beige head. Smells like, a bad ESB actually, cistrusy hops on top of garbage malts. Flavour is like, bad caramalt, with that weird Steelbk sout touch, some alcohol and the same weird British-like hops (Fuggles? Seriously?). This is absolutely nothing even remotely close to a Bohemian Pilsener, at best it’s a casual insult to Vienna’s. Maybe that’s what they were going for and whoever entered this just assumed they intended on a Pils (although the can still says "Bohemian style Pilsener"). All this being said, it’s actually got some decent drinkability to it, especially in this heat wave. I’m glad to have been able to try this as once the rest is gone, it’s gone for good supposedly. Bohemian Pilsener? Wtf? (Rating #1643) jerc (3114), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 17, 2008 2008-03-12 Golden amber body with a small off white head. Sweet aroma, light caramel, light alcohol, muted grains. Similar flavour, dilute caramel, light oddness. I am so distracted that it is not offensive I almost fail to know that it is clearly not anything like a bohemian pilsener! Average palate. Somehow I feel better about ticking this last Steelback off my list knowing that I paid for it with my deposit refund at The Beer Store while returning better empty beers. It seems poetic somehow.
