Re-rating based on version from relaunched Steelback: Golden colour that is darker than most macro lagers, but still on the light side, with a small white head. Aroma of grainy malt, very light toasted note, a moderate sweetness. Thin mouthfeel, fairly low carbonation. Mild flavour of grain and grass, with hops in the finish that are light but noticeable. Very clean and refreshing, this is a simple but well-made mainstream lager.

Old rating based on the original version: It is what it is... the putrid ass-juice of the hounds of Hell. [1/1/1/1/1 - 0.5]

[1579-20080810] Tap. Grainy gross toasted yeast aroma. Clear, pale orange body with a quick foamy white bubbly head. Grainy toast flavour also hints at yeast. Light-medium body. Poor.

Bottle, part of the re-launch of 5 Steelback beers under new ownership. Light yellow (maybe lighter than the Light Lager??), very small white head, some streaming bubbles. Soapy, grainy aroma, quite mild. Taste has a little more flavour than the light - somewhat sweet and lightly hopped. Mouthfeel is medium for the style and not nearly as carbonated as the light. This is not something I would reach for every again - there is simply not enough flavour here - but it is better than a macro lager and it is clean and not off-putting.

Not worst macro lager I have had, but nicely designed macro marketing bottle. Pale yellow with neutral aroma, and somewhat astringent but not too thin body.

Tasted 4/15/08. 12oz plastic bottle. Adds a nice touch of class! Filtered with a golden hue. Sparse white head. More of a grainy nose. Touch sugary and soggy malts. Crisp but buttery. Mild effervescence. With a catch phrase like, "It is what it is", it ain’t much. Never again!
