A rich, dry, roasty, black medium-bodied stout in the Irish tradition.

On tap @ Steelhead Burlingame. Dark brown/black colored beer with a dense cream colored head. Pretty much your typical toasty, coffee grounds, and some chocolate profile going on here. Thin and sort of watery, definitely a touch on the acidic side as well. Light bitterness and sweetness, just not much in the way of flavor.

On tap at Burlingame brewery - dark with a cream head. Nice dark coffee aroma but that’s about it. Real thin.

Sample at the Burlingame brewpub. Brownish-black pour with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasted character and flavors of sweet malt, coffee and a touch of hops. The finish is dry with a roast malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Of the eight beers I tried at steelhead, this was the best, but still off. Good aroma and palate, coffee chocolate, but the mouthfeel kills the rating, too watery, needs more malts to give this stout a backbone.

I had this on tap at Irvine, nice roasty nose and flavor, this black session beer was the best of the lot that I had.

Coffee and caramel right off the nose. Nice opaque color with a roasted malts/coffee taste. A little soft on the palate, but still a good stout.
