Deep red-amber color, crisp hoppy aroma, and a luscious combination of roasted toffee and caramel make this beer a favorite. 1991 Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal.

On tap at Irvine. Color was dark auburn. Aroma wasn’t very strong. Flavor was much more pronounced and solid. Fruit, red malt w/ a bit of earth and some floral.

Sixth taste on tap at the brewery. This one was much better than most. Nice balance between hops and malt, leaning toward the malt. Nice for the style.

Sampled in Eugene. A pretty good amber. Pours dark with a thin head. Has a lot of crisp maltiness. Very refreshing on a warm day. Great brew.

A nice reddihs amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, caramel malt with decent c-hops. In mouth, a good nutty ale with c-hops, grapefruit, medium bodied. Good ale. On tap at brewpub, Jan. 17 2009.

Tap at Oregon brewpub.
Pours a thick, whiskey (not whisky, in this case) brown with an off-white head. Smells of nutty hops. Flavor is light, floral hops- what I think an IPA should be. Feathery mouthfeel. Not bad at all.

I had a keg of this for my 23rd birthday and have had it at numerous Eugene Emeralds games in the years since. Solid amber pour with a very minimal head. Flavors heavily of caramel and toffee and other sticky sweet and malty bidness. Seriously long finish and solid to the last drop.

Dogbrick (7572) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 4, 2008
Sample at the Irvine brewpub. This beer is a clear amber color with a thin and compact beige head that recedes slowly. Spotty lacing. Light malt and caramel in the nose, as well as some hops. Medium body with grainy malt and caramel flavors along with some hops here and there. The finish is sweet toffee and malt with a short caramel aftertaste. Average overall.

On tap at TJ Rockwell’s, E-town, PA...medium amber in color, no head by the time i got it...aroma had an earthy sweetness to it...flavor showed some malts, citrus, mild hops...went down pretty fast...it was alright.

Draft at Steelhead BC, Eugene, OR. Small ivory head that was mostly lasting, fair amount of lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a reddish-orange hue. Nose was malty, caramel, lightly roasty, toffee, hoppy and sweet. Flavor was sweet, malty, caramel, hoppy, and toffee. Smooth mouthfeel and light-medium body. Quaffable, decent brew.

Tap @ the brewpub. Poured a clear copper color with an off-white head. Semi-sweet toffee aroma with some citrus notes and a hint of pine. Citrus forward flavor with a grainy middle. What’s up with their beers being so grainy. this one was close to being astringent. Dry fairly bitter finish. Long finish.
