3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml corked and caged bottle, at home. Poured into a tulip glass. ABV 6.5%
Pours a copper orange colour, clear on the body, with something more than two fingers of white, soapy head on top. Good foam retention while a constant stream of bubbles is crawling on the glass’s walls to feed the foam. Medium to heavy lacing left behind.
On the aroma light yeast notes, caramel malts, a bit fruity. The "gruut" herbal mixture is there but quite faint.
Taste is fruity, slighty sweet, with even more fruits on the aftertaste and finishes with a bubblegum flavour and mildly bitter, with short duration. Some yeast as well.
Medium thick body, good carbonation, a bit soft.
Overall a decent belgian ale, of those that define the style.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/6/2014. Pours slightly cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger foamy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of pear, apple, lemon, orange peel, banana, honey, bread, clove, pepper, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of fruity/spicy ester notes with a moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of pear, apple, lemon, orange peel, bread, honey, banana, clove, pepper, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, citrus, bread, honey, clove, pepper, light banana, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester flavors; with a moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian blond ale. All around nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy ester flavors with moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. No complaints at all really; a very enjoyable offering.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Very, very sweet ale, aroma and taste of honey. Bland appearance, no head, no bubbles...bad bottle? Perhaps. If I can get another sample, I’ll re-rate this one.
