Pours a clear orange body with a medium, dense white head. Smell is sweet malts and flowery hops. Taste is light malts, molasses, floral hops and hints of perfume. Smooth palate and a very drinkable tripel. Perhaps a bit too sweet sometimes, could easily have used a bit more aromatics to balance it. Very pleasant.

Bottle off my Dad. Don’t you just love it when you’re slugging a beer back you assume you’ve rated 1000s back, only to find it is, in fact, A WINNER. Pours soft and creamy; filmy orange with a tight pure-white drum of head. Sweet jammy hop, wine gums, pine, creamy malt and gin-like botanicals aroma. Surprisingly restrained on the palate; alcohol incidental to the mellow powdery spice (ground ginger, coriander, juniper), juicy Belgian hop, lemonade, honey. OK, there’s a fair bit of alcohol glow (and flavour) there, but it detracts nothing from a juicy, discreetly hopped, well-spiced, well-balanced tripel-nothing like as heavy-handed and industrial as feared. Just so hugely drinkable and dangerous. Reminds me of the enigmatically spiced Belgian stuff that first got me hooked, and eventually led me to RB. Can’t get enough of that gruut.

Bottle. The aroma is not very strong, light sweet, weak smell of fresh bread. The white creamy head is medium large with a normal duration, the body is clear and dark yellow. The hint of wine, light sour and malty, decent. The body is light to medium strong, creamy and oily with a soft carbonation. A nice Tripel.

Bottle conditioned, 330ml aged 7.5yrs. Orange amber with white head, yeasty lumps. Plenty of spices and fruit remain in the flavour of this aged beer. The aging has amalgamated the flavours somewhat, but there are still hints of pineapple and clove, coriander. Decent and tasty.
