4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 superspak (1482) - Michigan, USA - DEC 13, 2012
750 ml bottle into chalice, best before 4/1/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear golden amber color with a nice 1-2 finger fluffy white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass, with a nice amount of streaming carbonation; this is a great looking tripel. Aromas of big apple, pear, grape, honey, apricot, clove, light pepper, herbal, floral, candi sugar, bread, and light yeast spiciness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance. Taste of apple, pear, apricot, grape, clove, light pepper, grass, floral, earth, honey, bread, candi sugar, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruits, clove, pepper, honey, bread, herbal, floral, earth, honey, candi sugar, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor complexity; with a great malt and spicy yeast ester balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly slick and foamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Tripel! Great flavor balance and complexity; very smooth and easy to sip on. A very enjoyable offering; and very much in line to what I like to see in the style.

Cloudy yellowish gold. Smells of coriander, bananna, hay, spices. Thin bodied. Tastes of licorice, mint, anise, coriander. Very carbonated. Champagne like. Almost no alcohol flavor even though an abv of almost 9. I’m not a fan of triples but this one is ok.
