Tripel veramente spettacolare, una casuale e piacevolissima scoperta. Premetto che l’ho assaggiata alla spina. Colore oro splendente; schiuma finissima, spessa e persistente.

Ar: Aromatic pils malt, clove - some moss, black pepper, booze, and peach. Ap: Amber gold, crystal clear - medium white head with moderate-good retention, leaves a think cap of foam, some bubble colonies, and a little lacing on the glass sides. T: Rosy alcohol, black pepper, and clove - low bitterness, mossy flavor - very clean malt - lots of banana - some peach, but fades quickly - lingering alcohol sharpness with banana on the finish. P: Light body with high carbonation - finish is dry. O: The banana dominates too much in this beer - it also has bit too much alcohol bite without much complexity and counterbalancing flavor.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks solid; a completely transparent lighter gold with foamy white head. Smells of Belgian yeast and hops with notes of citrus and a moderately sweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel that’s medium-bodied for the style. Some clove too. More semi-sweet than sweet. Not bad, but not good either.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head that leaves decent lacing. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, banana, some yeast, bubblegum, pale crackery malts, a splash of honey, very soft finish, just ok.

Pours hazy golden with a hint of copper. Its white head is big at first and has medium lifetime. The nose is very tropical with it banana and pineapple notes, which are accompanied by buttery sourdough and cupcake notes. It also has a hint of spicy qualities to it. A mouthful reveals a burst of fruitiness up front, followed by caramelized malts on the mid-palate which is only slightly unclean. From the center, it makes a transition from semi-sweet caramel flavor to a long finish which leaves a nice glow from the alcohol as well as spiciness of clove and white pepper behind. Steenbrugge Tripel has a soft and creamy mouthfeel overall; with an above average carbonation complementing the spiciness nicely. While the it can be taken as complex, it is on the more ’casual’ side of tripel. Dangerously sessionable at 8.7% ABV.

Pleasant aroma of Belgian yeast and spices. Small head disappearing to thin durable layer. Clear golden body. Harsh alcohol bitterness in taste with good flavour of spices.
