3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle corked and caged poured into a weizen glass. Pours hazy golden with small white head. Aroma is spritzy malt, light body, lower carbonation, and pretty good medium bubble lacing. Taste is simple, spritzy, light citrus, some light apple, and hints of herbs. Really sessionable, but lacking in flavor compared to others in the style, liked it pretty well.

Just another Belgian witbier. Quite similar to all the others, except that it has a thinner body. Bit boring.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draught at Belgian Beer Cafe Oostende, Adelaide SA. Pours cloudy pale yellow with a small white head. Subdued nose of fresh bread and white peppers. Palate is rather thin and watery with the sweet malt flavours dominant and a mild peppery spicy finish. No coriander or orange peel elements as opposed to Hoegaarden Wit.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Cloudy hazy golden straw honey colour with thin traces of yeast sediments; Half finger head and white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing and notable carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of malt, with pretty strong wheat, orange peel and flesh, light perfume, cinnamon, spices, pears and Bel yeast; Minimal sweet and light tart taste of malt, with strong wheat, strong orange peel, light orange flesh, pears, coriander, spices, yeast, light cloves and herbs; Mid to light body, dry and crisp palate; Mouth feel is pretty solid Belgian White, fair maltyness, lots of wheat, good orange peel, and some nice light pears to boot. Coriander, yeast and herbal spiciness are light touch only, but more or less compensated by dry crispiness throughout. Okay… Hoppiness / gruitiness is orange peel, cinnamon and light spices in nose and taste. No bitterness, just light herbal wheaty finish; Dry aftertaste, very easy and crisp to mouth.
Comments: This is quite a solid Witbier, with decent looks, good lacing, lots of wheat, dry and crisp. The flip side being low-fi on orangey and spicy aroma and taste as if there’s some good bits left out from a supposedly good brew. Fully drinkable, but slightly below decent. Worth a try.
