3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 EdKing (772) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2011
Pours cloudy yellow with a short lived foamy head. Aroma is citrous and yeasty bread. Taste is a smooth and refreshing white beer that is very nicely balanced but doesn’t have many of the spicy or exotic notes of some white beers. Overall a very easy drinking white beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 prawlie (474) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2010
33 cL bottle poured into a Westmalle glass. Golden wit beer with a good initial but ultimately short lived head. Has to be said its not the most pleasant smelling wheat beer I’ve tried (that said its suggests its different from the norm). This is a pretty decent witbier, but I’d still rather have a Hoegaarden.

This was a pretty normal wit beer that had a pretty hazy color and not too much taste. There werent any spice notes or anything that made this different than a traditional Belgian white. Enjoyable.

Bouteille de 25cl. Jaune pale trouble, jolie mousse fine qui tient honorablement. Une blanche bien équilibrée entre les épices et les céréales, bonne carbonation. Trouvée à Vanuxeem - Ploegstaert.

Location: Sampled at the NY Brewfest on Governor’s Island, 6/19/10
Aroma: The nose is light, malty, some spice, and some banana and lemon
Appearance: The pour is cloudy, yellow color, small white head
Flavor: Taste is medium sweet, some spice, pretty much no bitterness
Palate: The body is fairly light, decent feel, a bit tingly on the mouth, smooth enough
Overall Impression:
A decent beer overall, and a solid example of the style. Nothing overly exciting or interesting going on here, just a solid beer.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 otakuden (1490) - Vero Beach, USA - OCT 22, 2010
A gentle haze of white and blanched straw fills my glass under a soft white blanket which melts into a border of fluff. No visible carbonation; instead I find gentle bread dough, fresh whipped meringue, lemon cream, and orange zest with a finish flourish of freshly ground cinnamon and white pepper. Yeast is a permanent impression underneath all her nose has to offer which brings me to all that her palate has to offer. Bright then creamy, lemon and orange are up front while bubbles tickle before leading me to soft doughy breads and lemon brightness in the finish. Her spice is very subdued, choosing to view the proceedings from my breath with white pepper and no cinnamon. Her whipped meringue mingles with the doughy breads, and each quaff refreshes just in time for the next. Clean, bright, subtle, soft, soothing, and refreshing, a gentle Wit if I ever did meet one.
Overall, I wouldn’t say the Steenbrugge Wit is the best I have ever tasted, but she is definitely one of the softest. She demands to be paired with succulent scallops and tender white fish.
