COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stegmaier IPA is an American India Pale Ale with an Attitude! Brewed with American malts and aggressively hopped with three varieties of American hops, Centennial, Cascade, and Nugget. Stegmaier IPA has an assertive hop presence and a strong malt backbone to support the quarter ton of hops used in the brew. Stegmaier IPA is a hop lover’s delight!

Purchased a six pack at Total Wine and More in Western Henrico. The beer is drinkable but not an IPA. The ale poured an attractive clear amber with a small white head. The head dissapated and left only a small white collar on the beer. This ale lacks the common caharacteristics of IPAs: like bitterness and higher alcohol. This is a medium body ale with average carbonation

FROTHINGSLOSH (4918) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark golden color with a small foamy off-white head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was caramel and faint floral and fruity hops. The flavor was bitter and dryish with hints of caramel, floral hops, fruity hops and pepper. Medium finish and body. Eh.

12oz. Bottle: Very faint aroma of malt and hops. Poured amber in color with a small, white head that disappeared quickly, except for around the edges. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Some small-sized, particles throughout. Flavor is light to medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, hops, herbs, and vegetables. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Slightly sweet, medium bitter, malt, hop finish.

I love reading a beer’s commercial description before I drink it. This beer is one that makes me think, "did some marketing guy write this description without even trying the beer?" Tastes like a skunked European green bottle lager. Sweet syrup in the front with an astringent medicinal aftertaste. Flavors are hard to pick out other than those mentioned and the beer was a muddled mess. Sweet at first and nasty in the finish. Decent carbonation.

Draft at Sugar Moms. Clear dark amber with a pillowy head. Well blended tangy hops. Ginger fruits. Better than expected. Still a narrow range of flavors, but well worth a try.

Bottle. Clear orange and bright, moderately active, bubbles rising to to a nice cushiony head. This doesn’t put much of an aroma, maybe just a hint of tropical fruit. It drinks with a bit of a spicy edge, earthy and ripe, actually pretty good. I think this is underrated and is a victim of prejudice to the source. (#4572, 4/22/2012)

Bottle. The last stop of my shitty ticker beer tour this evening. Orange copper with small white head. Nose is pine, herbal, citrus, grain. Flavor is similar, good balance between bitter and grains, but both are rather dull. Sorta soapy and peppery finish.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of resin hops with nutty, toasted malts. The taste is bitter resin hops, some citrus and pale malts. Medium bodied. Decent.

Pours a cloudy dirty orange with sediment, light head and spotty lace. The taste is semi-sweet caramel malt with a light hop finish. The two sides actually blend rather nicely, creating a good balance in an easy to drink brew. Better than anticipated.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a dark orange-amber color with a modest, foamy white head with moderate cling and retention. Its aroma featured a mix of citrus, pine, and earthy hops, and a touch of malt. The beer had a bitter taste with orange and grain characteristics and was a touch sour too. The body was wet with low carbonation and fairly smooth without a dominant mouthfeel.
