Stegmaier Midsummer White

12 oz. bottle from Belmont. Pours a cloudy golden color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet fruity, nice spices, grainy, and grassy. The flavor sweet, grainy, apples, light yeast, and lightly spiced. This was not one of my favorites.

12 oz bottle: Cloudy gold color w/ a short lived white head. Stale wheat malt aroma upon initial sniff. Green apple aroma dominates the fruitiness as opposed to orange peel and coriander. which are faint at best. Not much else going on in the aroma. Flavor is much the same, but the oxidized flavor of the malt is accented even more in cardboardy and lightly acidic fruitiness of green apples. Zero coriander flavor, with a hint of orange peel. Funky, lightly acidic aftertaste that has a light yeast character. Medium carbonation, lighter body but not watery; smooth. Thankfully I didn’t have to pay for this one. It is a bit off putting by the lack of any of the typical flavors/aromas of a Belgian wit. Not even any yeast character.

Muddily sweet, overall. Some attractive spicy elements in the nose but too roughly grainy. Sugary, cloying in the throat. Amazing price, but I still won’t buy this wit again, probably.

12oz bottle. Pours a very murky yellow with a very small head. Smells of corn and grass. Tastes like its sweetened with honey. Small amount orange zest, malty, citrusy, and a little corriander in the aftertaste. Nice thick mouthfeel. Nice body.

12-oz. Thanks, Hopscotch! Pours a murky darkish medium amber with a loose, thin white head. Lots of big chunky bits kicking around down near the bottom. Nose of sweet cream, green apples, pie spice, and caramel. Slightly creamy body on the low side of medium. Not much carb at all. The apple pie bits come back around for the mid-palate, and wash out fairly quickly in a watery ebb. Not bad, but could be either more complex or more refreshing.

Labeled as Knights Head White. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky golden-amber color with a large orange-white head. The aroma was strong with citrus and coriander. The flavor was dryish, peppery and had strong coriander and orange notes with a musty cardboard undertone. The finish was long, dry musty orange. The mouthfeel was surprisingly thick. Decent.

Bottle… Mostly clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma offers toasty grains and a hint of honey; not picking up on much in the way of fruit peel or spice. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Tastes more like an amber ale than a wit. Nice, toasty, bready malts - a touch restrained but fairly well-balanced. Crisp, clean, dry finish.
