COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The great porters of England were the inspiration for this traditional Pennsylvania-style dark beer. Four different malts contribute to its unique roasted aroma, flavor and subtle sweetness. Velvety-smooth on the tongue, you will pick up hints of coffee, caramel and chocolate in the taste.

* under cap puzzle translates to: Miami Vice* Pours oily black with a thin, dark tan head that dissipates quickly. Prune, dark vinous fruit, coffee aroma. Smoky, black cherry/ chocolate flavour....malty. Acidic, sharp and toffee’d. A very different porter... Very enjoyable...imperial accents without the higher ABV.

Poured from a bottle- black, opaque with a nice tan head. Poor lacing. A nice, solid porter and a pleasant surprise from this old time brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep dark brown, almost black. Aroma is dark chocolate, roast and coffee beans. Taste is dark chocolate bittersweet. Medium bodied with a crisp finish, surprised by the crispness. Best beer I’ve had from Lion, just a great beer all around.

Bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with a 2-finger brown head. Aromas of cocoa, caramel, and toffee. The flavor is sweet toffee, caramel, and some burnt instant coffee. Medium carbonation, with a nearly tart feeling, probably from the sour coffee notes. Good. [712]

This pours a deep black w/ a small head. The nose is chocolate and butterscotch w/ maybe a hint of tart fruits. Flavors of charcoal and dark roast coffee predominate. This is slightly sweet w/ medium carbonation. The texture is decent, medium bodied, but that is the best thing about this beer. This is not good for Stegmaier or for a porter.

12 oz from Grocery Outlet, Salem Oregon. $4.29 a six pack. Very good looking beer, darkest of browns almsot black with a thick ,creamy light brown head that sticks. Good toasty porter malt aromas, some aroma of chocolate and faint cereal. good again.taste is creamy semi bitter chocolate, some raisins and cocoa nibs, Ok on the palate not too thin. Actually not a bad traditional style porter. A surprise from this contract brewer.

Bottle. Pours black, looks pretty thick - thicker than I had expected. Leaves a modest, beige head. Some coffee and chocolate in the nose. Flavor has some nice caramel sweetness, then gives way to notes of chocolate, burnt malts and tobacco in the finish. Medium bodied, tingly carbonation. Pretty decent.
