joss (3138), Garching b. München, Germany Sep 5, 2007 Bottle, thanks pivnizub. Fairly fruity aroma - fermenting apples, light metallic hops. Orange dark amber, low head. Good chewy base, fruit again, roast, bready notes. Nice aromatic and bitter hopnotes. Natural carbonation, mellow mouthfeel. Honeyish, light roasted aftertaste. Quack-Duck (1900), Bodensee, Germany Jun 1, 2007 bottle, thanks to MoritzF and pivnizub. Tiny head, nice copper colour. Bitter sweet, quite hoppy. Slightly smokey roasted malt flavour. A very pleasant beer. pivnizub (3871), Porúří, Germany May 30, 2007 Bottle (bought at the brewery). Clear, copper coloured, quickly collapsing smaller off-white head; toasted malt, a touch of barnyard and distinctive spicy hops in the aroma; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, a bit sticky, light bodied; "medical" hops and toasted malt in the finish. A thuringian Landbier, very similar to a good franconian Landbier, no surprise, because the border is only 20 kilometers away........ MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany May 28, 2007 (bottle, purchased at the brewery) Clear, chestnut colour with a non-persistent, mid-sized foamy white head. Light-sweet malty, slightly nutty, citrousy hoppy aroma. Soft-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Pleasant slightly toasted malty base with a (chest-)nutty taste, touch of barnyard; medium-dry, malty, slightly bitter finish with a nutty moderately lasting aftertaste. Not a worldshaking, but well-rounded dark Landbier
