Aroma of grains and hops. Flavour is clean, bit thin, grainy and grassy, bit hoppy with a dryish bit sweet finish. Brewed since 1950 and is still the most famous Kiwi beer. A rather boring beer though.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2008 12oz bottle: Another lager in my quest to find the best darn beer in a green bottle. This is getting closer! Pale yellow pour with a creamy white that actually sticks around for a bit. While the nose is full of grassy, skunky hops, they somehow seem a bit more defined than other similar smelling beers. A light wildflower honey note lingers as well. The body is more malty than anything, buttery caramel mostly. A solid bitterness keeps it in check, without becoming into the usual corn and wet grass experience. Definitely not bad for the style. roder60 (1020), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Nice lemony grassy aroma. Flavor nice and light and crisp with nice citric hops. Overall, extremely enjoyable on a hot day. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Pours (wow, the skunk aroma (green bottle)), light pale golden as 3/4 pure white foam into a pint glass. Excellent lacing. Very bitter, hoppy, skuny aroma, almost like a good pilesener or something, though it’s called a pale lager. A little corn in the aroma as well, or some other adjunt grain. A small amount of bubbling is present in the beer. Flavor is corny, bland, malty, and watery and reminds me of honeycomb cereal. Palate is boring, sugary and plain, and a little bitter. Finish is bland and well, there’s just nothing more to say about this, it is a pale lager after all. klokan44 (1), Czech Republic does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Had this beer in the States and thought it was slightly above the good pilsners commonly available (warsteiner, becks, DAB, etc.). In NZ, the stuff is a notch or two up....draft and very fresh and tastey, one of my favorites....especially with a bowl of garlicky green lip mussels. Dogbrick (2855), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 28, 2008 This beer is a clear pale golden color with a medium thick and foamy white head that diminishes slowly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Lightly skunky aroma with mild hops and grass. Light, clean body with light hops and malt, corn and hay flavors. The finish is clean and short with a mild hops flavor and aftertaste. Pretty boring overall.
