| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Poured from "King Kahuna" bottle into a Lager glass. Aroma is . . . different from the good beer I have been drinking recently. . .smells of grass (both the type growing in your yard as well as the illegal drug), there is also light citrus, heavy skunk and light malt. Pour typical golden straw color of mass produced pale lagers. Frothy white head and it appears to be very over carbonated. Over carbonation confirmed on taste. Watery to bitter flavor. Tastes cheap. doubleo (1104), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2007 Pours a clearish pale yellow out of the bottle. Thick, frothy, white head that lingered through the entire glass and left some lace. Not much of a nose to it, I smell a hint of sweet maltiness. Tastes pretty good for a fizzy yellow beer. Sweet malts and grains abound in this brew. Palate is thin, fizzy but not the fizziest. A very drinkable beer, I would drink this over a Heiny any day. harrisoni (6770), Ashford, Kent, England
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 24, 2007 33cl can. Gold, thick white head. Slightly metallic stale cereal aroma. Faint lemon hop. Some creaminess. Yeah it’s ok. It’s a lager with some nice crispness on finish. TimE (1301), Tokyo, Japan
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Straight forward mainstream lager that is perhaps a bit smoother than usual and with some grassy notes. One of the better BMC types around

I’ve got skunks in my back yard sometimes. It’s hard to tell the difference between them and this. It might be Kiwi Delite back in Auckland, but in Toronto, it’s polecat piss. It looks nice, but everything else was horrid. Travel takes out just about anything that was good here. We know Kiwis can do better than this! after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA

First of all, I have to say I have a lot of gratitude and other positive feelings toward Steinlager for all they did to sponsor American club and college rugby through the 90s. They really stepped up. They made a lot of tournaments possible, and it was always fun rooting for the All Blacks, even moreso thanks to these guys.
With that said, let’s talk about what rubbish this beer is. Is it ever not skunked? Ever? Seems like it’s skunked in the keg. Why put hops in at all? Gah.
Pours a crystal clear amber light gold with a loose, sloppy platinum blonde head. Decent lace. Plenty of visible rising carb. Smells like a skinny skunk’s ass.
Tastes like a skinny skunk’s ass.
Finishes like a skinny skunk’s ass.
They bought a lot of my loyalty through the years, but they can’t make me like the beer. Especially not when it tastes like they want me to hate it. rodneykm (109), Westminster, South Carolina, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 10/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Pretty average beer in every sense of the word. Was on the expensive side so I probably wont be buying it again. Swalden28 (1446), McKinney, Texas, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 18, 2007 A straw yellow color with a nice malty hopy flavor. I had a couple 6 packs of these...if stored wrong, watch out...the skunk will come to haunt you. Has nice head retention when poured properl. Nice crisp flavor.
