There’s some grassy hops up fron and it has a decent, rounded buttery malt profile.
The bitterness is low, but for a mass market beer it’s pretty solid. Aurelius (2646), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 8, 2006 This was actually a fairly solid brew. Cakey malt aroma, with no skunking. Decent mouthfeel. An almost walnut quality to the taste, light sweetness. Good mouthfeel. Lightly sweet finish. This one surprised me, and I find the low ratings unsubstantiated. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 25, 2006 I would drink copious amounts of this beer with my fellow Marines, and it brings back fond memories of summer days on the beach playing volleyball, body surfing, and enjoying ice cold beer. Suffice to say, I can’t get Steinlager that cheap these days, and I remember this beer tasting much better back in those carefree days. That being said, this is still a decent lager with some character and flavor.
Steinlager pours to a deep golden color with a rocky white head that fades, and a very vibrant carbonation. The nose isn’t too remarkable, but there are subtle aromas of malt, and grassy/herby hop aromatics. The palate is lean with some crisp pale malt flavor and light touches of sweet maltiness. Steinlager finishes with some nice grassy/herby bitteress in a short and snappy bite.
A nice trip down memory lane for me, and a decent lager. This is the type of beer that is suited for hot weather, and it is a refreshing beer to have if you plan on having a few. Worth giving a try, and I believe it will find a place in my beer fridge from time to time for sentimental purposes.

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Medium gold body with a white head. The aroma was corny with grass and a hint of skunk. The taste was also corny with some metallic notes of grass. The body was thin. A lame lager. warriorx99 (85), USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Jan 4, 2006 Bottled. This beer pours with only a little head and a clear light gold. It’s a dry, somewhat skunky with a quick bitter finish. I can’t say that I recommend it at all. puphus (33), Glenwood Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2006 Dry, hoppy, carbonated beer. A bit of skunk flavor in most of the bottles although it seemed to vary within the six-pack. Perhaps an old pack of beer, but still drinkable and light. A good overall light finishing beer.
