3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Yeasty taste in bottled variety, much nicer on tap. Fresh light brew overall, best of the commercial beers in New Zealand

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a lager glass. ABV 4.8%. New country tick.
Golden yellow colour on the body with one finger of white, froathy head. Average retention, leaves a messy medium thick lacing clinged on the glass’s walls. Low activity in it.
Aroma of grass, a bit of apple juice, sweet malts.
Taste is very sweet and malty, with grass notes. On the aftertaste maltose and hay. Not very good.
Medium thin body, carbonation on good levels. Quite dry on the palate.
Overall not one I would seek out but if it was the only available option, it would do, provided it would be ice cold.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
steinlager look alright when in the glass but its taste doesn’t match the appearance and sadly i’d prefer double brown....

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottle from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - amber, slight haze, some head.
Nose - green beans and pale malt (cornflakes)
Taste - more of the green vegetables, more of the breakfast cereal.
Palate - light body but decent balance, perhaps almost as clean as the ’Pure’.
Overall - it’s another good lager. I like it.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
33 cl bottle from a friend. Pours yellow with a white head. Grainy taste and aroma. I enjoyed this one with some crisps and it worked well.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Lounge beer, at the Air New Zealand business class lounge at LAX. Bottle. Crystal clear golden yellow color, fluffy whitebhead. Aroma of peppery cardboard. Taste is bitter and papery. An inauspicious start to my NZ trip. At least it was free.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml bottle Pale yellow color with a nice white head that leaves only a few specks of lacing. Aroma is light grains and hoppy. Taste is malty, grainy and light sweetness with a bit hop bitterness. Low carbonation with a light body. Surprised!

Excellent aroma, and modestly drinkable. My first beer from New Zealand (most likely).

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle and Draught. This is a thin and simple lager. If you are out for a night on the town this is the way to go in Aukland.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
330ml Bottle from The Cave, Glasgow (£1):
Corn and lager malt aroma that has a touch of grassy hops and a skunky bitterness to follow this up. There was some grain too and a very small hint of sweetness but other than that there wasn’t a whole lot going on really.
Clear, pale straw colour with a foamy, quite thin white head on top that holds pretty well.
Bland with some corn and cheap malts. There is some grain and a hint of sweetness with some grassy hops that makes it come out a lot like the nose but other than that there isn’t anything to say about this one. Not offensive just bland and basic.
Light, smooth and clean taste. The beer is pretty bland with some touches of sweetness and as a result of this the beer is quite easy to drink. There is some bitterness in the crisp, dry finish.
As expected to be honest, a basic and cheap lager that isn’t quite as bad as some of the mass produced ones I’ve tried over the years. It’s not great but it is by no means the worst and it was pretty easy to drink. Definitely not one worth picking up but not quite drain pour either thankfully.
