COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Steinlager® is a lager with a distinctive grassy note and clean crisp bitterness of green bullet hops. It is balanced with a dry, astringent finish.

Pale gold indicates a lighter beer. Some decent hops initially comes through in the aroma; slightly skunky however due to green bottles. Malt flavor seems to stay in the background. Finish dry and somewhat hoppy. Very average overall.

Poured very clear gold with lots of mid-sized bubbles and a lasting frothy head. Some fizzy sherbet lemon on the initial aroma, but followed with a faint bile-like smell . On tasting starts a bit light and malty but quickly becomes sickly and sugary. Some metallic bitterness that seems a bit of a constant for southern hemisphere pale lagers makes its way into the brew as well. This one is probably best guzzled at Jade Stadium, watching the Crusaders destroy another hapless Super 14 team, so that your focus is on watching Dan Carter carve up the defence rather then how crep thus beer uz, eh bro.

Now I know why there are not many famous Kiwi beers.... It started out on the right track (fairly clean), but then it slammed me with a sour finish. This is my last dontation to the Kiwi’s for this lager; unless it tastes better when I’m there...maybe it just didn’t travel well? However, based on some of the other reviews, maybe it’s just a poor attempt at a lager.

330ml bottle @ the father in laws - Pours crisp golden, reasonable milky head that clings to the side of glass. Dry nose, reasonably bitter up front but doesn’t really develop to anything. Malty rather than hoppy finish. I don’t get ’skunky’ like others - perhaps it doesn’t travel well?

I've had this beer many times, and every time it struck me as being sort of the Kiwi Budweiser. Yes, a crisp, clean taste, but there's really not a lot of taste period. Coupled with the that there's almost nothing distinctive about this beer, I can't recommend it highly.

Just an average lager, certainly not a premium one. Colour is okay, at a medium gold but the head is lacking body. Aroma is quite ’hoppy’, and the taste is likewise. I’m not overwhelmed by this beer, there must be better beers in Kiwi-land.

Pours a pale yellow with high carbonation and thick white head. Aroma is all hops. Taste is mostly barely with only minor hoppiness and a crips watery finish.
