I did actually pay for this. I wish I hadn’t but it was only for a friend who I have a lot of time and respect for who was on a regime of light beer and exercise. This beer is a bit of a letdown if I’m honest. It attempts to keep the flavour of Steinlager but without the alcohol for the flavour to bond to becoming a mildly repellent fizzy thing. What flavour there is is of coarse malt, very little hop and it doesn’t matter cold or warm, you won’t want another.

Kind of an odd duck here. Served cold and poured with a smallish, white head that settle to a light, scummy cover and lots of lace. Color is a clear yellow with some bubble trails. Aroma is mainly skunk ( stored in cooler near fluorescent lites) with a little malt and hop. Flavor is mainly hop bitter and carbonic tang with a little malt/grain sweetness. For such a low alco/calorie beer the flavor stands out, but in a way that isn’t all that pleasing. Body is ok and carbonation is sharp. Finish is like flavor, long, bitter, and acid sharp.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin lazing white head. The aroma has notes of grain, metal, and alcohol - weird for a light beer. The flavor is sweet with notes of grain and a bit of hay and metal, leading to a dry metallic finish. The body is thin.

Pours golden, white head. Strong grassy aromas, skunky and funky. Flavour is lightly malty, a bit of skunky hops, watery, no body.
Bloody awful.

Bottle (BBD 31.07.09). This was a bit of a surprise. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to become a faithful Steinlager Light drinker, but if for whatever reason you had to drink a light lager, then this is among the best I’ve tried (Heineken Light is another). There is a very pronounced grassy skunky hop aroma and flavour, along with a decent amount of sweet pale malts for a lager this light (2.5% ABV). Quite flavourful compared to North American light lagers (Coors Light, Bud Light, etc). A standout within its class, keeping in mind we are talking about a light pale lager here.

Oh Dear! What an insipid excuse for a beer. No taste, no flavour, no head, in fact who called this a beer at all?
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Plimmer (252) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - FEB 19, 2008
Bottle 33cl. Clear golden body with a small white head. Sweet citrus in the nose. A touch of hops and sweet malt in the light flavour.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some laces. Fresh, lightly citrusy aroma. Light-bodied with sweetish malt accents and a discreet bitterness in the finish. Not too bad for a light Pale Lager. 280108
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 31, 2008
Bottle, pours a clear dark gold with a white frothy head. An unoffensive sweet malt aroma, with some metalicness. A thin and dry palate with a neutral hoppy flavour, wiht increasing carbonation with the swallow. For a lower alcohol lager, it passes.
