I didn’t find this to be much different from the regular Steinlager. Nothing special to say about this one. Smelled like a light lager and tasted like a light lager and came in a boring bottle with a boring label.

Fizzy soft damp sock smell. In the mouth lots of fizzy carbonation that tries to make you ignore the skunky sourness. Very little bitterness, just more damp sock on the aftertaste. Good example of the New Zealand light-lager style. There might have been a hop waved somewhere around the brewing vat, at some stage.

Ungstrup (22911) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 2, 2012
Bottled. The most beautiful cap ever - The All Blacks. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of straw and malt. The flavor is sweet straw, malt, and eggs, leading to a bitter finish.

drpimento (1695) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Served cold which I would think it would have to be. With a white, foamy head that settles down to a light cover and good lacing. Color is a clear pale yellow with a few bubble trails. Aroma is skunk ( was in a cooler near fluourescent bulb), malt, hint of hop. Flavor is similar to nose plus plenty of carbonic tang. Body is ok and carbonation a little fizzy. Finish is like flavor, leaves a bit of sharpness on back of the tongue from carbo. Actually as it warms, it DOES get a little better: grain and malt flavors come thru more.
