COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Steinlager® is a lager with a distinctive grassy note and clean crisp bitterness of green bullet hops. It is balanced with a dry, astringent finish.

This beer always reminds me of the Big Island in Hawaii, where Steinlager is very prevalent. I enjoyed many there with ArmEd and our wives in the fall of 2006. Since then, it’s been a regular in the rotation, and I have never opened one without thinking of that trip. Pours a light to medium gold with a medium white head and excellent lacing. Aroma is hoppy, slightly skunky. Flavor is unique, with a good balance of crisp bitterness for a lager. Picture a Hawaiian sunset as you drink it - Mahalo!

[Bottle] Pours clear gold with a small whitish head. Aroma is lager yeast and a touch of skunk. Flavor is sweetish malt, only a hint of skunk. Somewhat sweet with a sweetish mouthfeel.

For some reason I really like the way it smelled when i took off the bottle cap. But after that it didn’t really have a smell to it, sad. Nothing about this beer impresses me. I just wanted to try a New Zealand beer.

Pours pale gold with a decent wehite head. Bubbles persist throughout. Nose is a bit grassy and bitter, as is the flavor. Not surprisingly, not too complex, but it fills a NZ rating!

Bottle. Quite hoppy, light sweet and later on a light smell of sweat. Medium sized frothy white head, normal long lasting, yellow body. Light bitter taste, short duration. Light to medium body, dry texture, soft carbonation. A light metallic finish. An OK one.
