COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Steinlager® is a lager with a distinctive grassy note and clean crisp bitterness of green bullet hops. It is balanced with a dry, astringent finish.

Bottled, purchased from the LCBO. I’ve got skunks in my back yard sometimes. It’s hard to tell the difference between them and this. It might be Kiwi Delite back in Auckland, but in Toronto, it’s polecat piss. It looks nice, but everything else was horrid. Travel takes out just about anything that was good here. We know Kiwis can do better than this!

750, capped. First of all, I have to say I have a lot of gratitude and other positive feelings toward Steinlager for all they did to sponsor American club and college rugby through the 90s. They really stepped up. They made a lot of tournaments possible, and it was always fun rooting for the All Blacks, even moreso thanks to these guys.
With that said, let’s talk about what rubbish this beer is. Is it ever not skunked? Ever? Seems like it’s skunked in the keg. Why put hops in at all? Gah.
Pours a crystal clear amber light gold with a loose, sloppy platinum blonde head. Decent lace. Plenty of visible rising carb. Smells like a skinny skunk’s ass.
Tastes like a skinny skunk’s ass.
Finishes like a skinny skunk’s ass.
They bought a lot of my loyalty through the years, but they can’t make me like the beer. Especially not when it tastes like they want me to hate it.

Pretty average beer in every sense of the word. Was on the expensive side so I probably wont be buying it again.

A straw yellow color with a nice malty hopy flavor. I had a couple 6 packs of these...if stored wrong, watch out...the skunk will come to haunt you. Has nice head retention when poured properl. Nice crisp flavor.

12oz bottle, pours a clear yellow with little head, smells skunky and doesnt taste much better.. I thought I mightve gotten a bad 12 pack but from what Im reading from past entries, that nasty musty bitter carbonated taste is par for the course.. by far the worst beer I have rated and maybe the worst lager I have ever tasted. I cant infer anything from this beer besides a watery skunky mix of macro chemicals.. not good not good at all

Pours a very pale yellow. Aroma and taste of skunk and corn. Nothing better than domestic offering, but more expensive.

(330 ml bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/augusta/l target=blank>Lou’s Beverage Barn) Pours clear very pale yellow with a pillowy white head. Aroma is quite skunky at first but as head recedes it turns to honeyish malt. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth, a little prickly, a decent amount of heft for the style. Foamy, unattractive sheets of lacing inside of glass. Flavor starts off primarily as honeyish malt with a little bit of bread - not bad, almost reminding me of a heller bock. Light bitterness overlays and gives a little bite. But I am bothered towards the end by hints of skunkiness. A pretty tasty beer for the style that is marred by the skunk.
