Seriously, this one is sort of a mess. Clear fizzy yellow without much head. An aroma that tells you that at best it’s probably not worse than any other green bottled import. The flavor tells you that at best it’s worse than probably every other green bottled import. Skunky and grassy with a sharp bitter finish that tastes accidental and artificial.
Hooray, I’ve now rated a beer in New Zealand.

does not count  Apr 8, 2007 As nice light tasteof sweet malts with hints of an earthy tone. However the taste quickly leaves for no finish. I actually quite enjoyed the subtle tones of this beer. Nice light lager.

Mar 21, 2007 Found Steinlager to be very ’Chemically’ it tasted bland and I could not finish the bottle, surely NZ can do better than this?
(I agree with the headache comment further through the reviews, same happened to me although I blamed it on something else!)

Mar 21, 2007 Cold 11.15oz bottle: Pours a clear pale golden color with a medium fizzy alabaster head that quickly dissolved. Aroma is of light, sweet malts and grass. Taste is of light, sweet malts well blended with earthy hops and light citrus notes. Crisp and light bodied with good carbonation. Ending is of light, sweet malts with notes of dough and grass. Nicely tangy for a lager.

Mar 17, 2007 Pours a pale golden with a thin fading white head. Aroma is crisp and clean with a fair amount of herbal and slightly floral hops, with a bready almost crackery malt profile. Flavor is a bit weak but doesnt taste off or skunked- light spicy and somewhat earthy- more bready and grainy cracker malts with a clean lightly bitter finish. Pretty good for a mass produced lager.
