COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Steinlager® is a lager with a distinctive grassy note and clean crisp bitterness of green bullet hops. It is balanced with a dry, astringent finish.

Bottle. Bit pale golden colour with a medium rather short lasting bubbly head. Aroma of grains and hops. Flavour is clean, bit thin, grainy and grassy, bit hoppy with a dryish bit sweet finish. Brewed since 1950 and is still the most famous Kiwi beer. A rather boring beer though.

why do i do this to myself? i’m at the store, i have a bottle of chimay blue in one hand and am looking for something to drink while it comes up to temp. i see this green bottle monstrosity and smile at the phrase "pure new zealand beer" well, it might have started pure, but in the travel to get here a hobbit pissed in it. a skunked up aroma only lumpy could love. metallic soapy flavor that has a stale twig taste to it. why did i buy the big bottle? why do i hate myself?

nothing special. mild skunky nose but the taste is not much of anything. i do not taste grass but i do taste "astringent". i would rather be drinking becks

12oz Bottle: A clear pale yellow beer with a fading white head. At first a huge skunkyness hits your nose, yet when it breathes there’s a light hint of sweet malt in the aroma. Decent flavor. More balanced than the aroma. Some evident bready malt with a later hint of stale hop bitterness in the finish. Solid for a pale lager.

Tranquillity (1314) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JAN 7, 2007
Bottle. Aroma like a typical German lager, with some hemp-notes. Clear with an ale-like, steady foam. Thick, hoppy taste with medium-long finish. Weird that it got such bad reviews?

Bottle. I agree with the skunk comments from other raters. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Not really my style of bier and would not buy again.

Bottle. Bit of skunk in the aroma, that mostly went away on full pour. Clear golden, small whitish head. Taste is bright, can taste the grain, and a bit of bitter in there too. Decent, clean lager, not much more or less.

tiny bit of skunk, but not so much to knock you out. astringent is the correct definition. reminds me of alcohol put on a cut, but drinkable, and has a little kick to it.
