Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada May 24, 2004 Big ass bottle. Light gold tiny soapy white head. Modest hop aroma with herbs and only slightly skunked. Carries a medicine like bitterness. Soury malt notes. Tastes round out a bit after a couple of sips. Some sweetness and light toast comes through. It tastes sooooo green, as though the ingredients weren’t ripe enough to brew. I guess that was what they were aiming for. They weren’t kidding about the astringent finish. Unique. gregcromwell (8), Coorabell, Australia does not count May 23, 2004 A classic premium lager in my books. Stranded on an island this is a brew that I would happily sip on for a month or year or maybe longer.
Unique hop aroma that is clean, powerful and always present. The most unique character for me is the middle...which has a nutty round malt flavour..... Fortunately I have not encountered the skunks referred to in the other ratings....darn those green bottles. madquacker (707), Canberra ACT, Australia May 1, 2004 Despite natural instinct to dislike this beer, because of the association of the silver fern, I liked its hoppy taste. Quite dry at the end. OD40oz (600), Box Elder, South Dakota, USA Apr 9, 2004 Updated: Apr 10, 2004Looks like piss and smells like someone put a skunk in a blender and bottled it. It definitly didn't taste as bad as it smelled. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Apr 7, 2004 Light golden color with a fluffy white head that leaves a lot of nice looking lace. Zippy carbonation escaping about the glass. Light husk and grain aroma. Dry chalky flavor. A touch of malt sweetness later in the quaff. Almost tastes like oatmeal. Rather sharp bitterness in the finish, a touch grassy. dewolfpack (59), Petit De Grat, Nova Scotia, Canada Mar 28, 2004 A good lager. A cross between a Corona and a Heineken but better aftertaste and a good burp a hint of wheat and excellent hopps blend .Head dosen't matter to me when it comes to beer taste and aftertaste is what counts. DerBiermeister (504), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Mar 28, 2004 This beer is comparable to Heineken, but crisper, fresher, and less offensive to me. I had it in Hawai'i where they sell these ridiculously over-sized beers with over a pint in their bottles. Crazy. Drinking, watching the sun set on the horizon whilst sitting on the sandy beach, I thought this beer quite a quaffable winner - affordable and drinkworthy, and yet not amazing or anything - just a good lager. And I do like a good lager... unclebleen (620), California, USA Mar 20, 2004 Pours a medium gold color with a medium white head. Aroma is malty but light. Flavor is very much lagerish in a Heineken sort of way. Body is decent.
