Tap at Marco Pierre White, Birmingham Cube. Ordered because I’d never heard of it. The description mentions orange and coriander, which is unerringly inaccurate given this is startlingly lacking in coriander or orange. It’s not black either - more a dark amber. Refreshing. So is water though.

Tap in a London bar. Not much sign of the reverential puring ritual. Utterly tasteless, none of the usual wife beating edge, just tasted a bit soapy, hard to finish. Poor.

Deep gold pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is paper, light malt, and floral hops. Light malt flavor with the perfumy hops that may lean toward metallic. Light bodied and smooth.

Calling this Black is breach of Trades Descriptions, surely? It’s light amber, more like a lightly spiced Helles than regular Stella. Inoffensive and drinkable.

White Lion, Covent Garden, UK. Tap, 171013. Golden woth white head. Aroma weak of hay. Flavor with some malt and spices.

And so I reach 50 pale lager ratings. Short rating due to social event. Keg. Dark orange with a white head. Smells…like a lager…and a bit yeasty. Body is medium, low to medium carbonation for the style. Taste - strong lager flavours, rounded bitterness, touch of alcohol. OK.

Golden with a small head. Has a heavier malt texture to the lager, certainly more full-bodied although not as similar tasting to regular Stella as you might expect.

Keg. Tried at Birmingham Metropole Hilton. Fortunately I only tried a half as it was £5.50 a pint! Queried with the bar person why a beer called black was not off black appearance. He told me that it was to do with it being matured longer to give a more mature taste. Well this must be one of the few occasions were I would have died for a normal Stella. Virtually tasteless gassy and very expensive rubbish. Avoid at all cost-the beer not the hotel.

jjsint (624) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 15, 2013
Unpleasantly dark like unpolished brass. Smells of unpleasant things: wet animal, sulphur, sick. Taste is bitter/sour, very disagreeable but improves slightly over the course of the pint. Not badly kept, just bad. This beer should be retired immediately, an epic fail from InBev.

Theydon_Bois (7898) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - JUN 28, 2013
Tap at the Crown Rivers, LHR T5, 21/06/13. Clear light golden with a thin white covering. Nose is on the thin side, pale malt, grass, citrus, light toasty bread notes. Taste comprises cereals, pale malt, hint of caramel, bread dough. Medium bodied with light spritzy carbonation. Dull.
