This beer poured a dark straw color and formed a nice bubbly white head that didn't leave much lace as it subsided. The aroma was of green apples and had a slight skunkiness to it, which couldn't have been from the store since Columbus just got this stuff in a few weeks ago. A medium amount of carbonation was present. The flavor was of hops and grain. For a lager, it had a surprising amount of taste to it and the finish actually had a bit of body to it. I can see where people would compare this more to something like a Heineken.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2005 Had this a couple of times now and my feelings have changed quite a bit. For one, I don’t think it’s skunky at all on tap. For two, I’ve noticed some interesting clove and banana flavors lurking in there. Maybe it’s the Belgian influence but the smart money says they need to lager it longer.

Original rating: Pours a pale golden. Decent head and lace. Somehat grainy aroma, a bit skunky even on tap. Pretty sweet, almost sticky. Strongly bitter. Some citrus notes. Well balanced. A good pilsner.

Poured a nice bright yellow with a good white head. Little aroma present. Flavor was very subtle. A decent tasting clean lager with a little complexity.

A fancy Budweiser with a harsher bite and higher alchohol content. Typical lager clean & dry finish. A good beer if you like mass-produced American lagers, but not stellar.

Golden yellow with a fine but quickly disappearing head. Smells of hops and sharpness. Some flora hops with a tangy bite. Finishes sharply. Smooth. Decent beer.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2007 Nice looking head, but it disappears almost instantly. A citruslike aroma, with a sour flavor. Too much acid. An international standard lager.

International Standard Lager indeed! Not much aroma, not much flavor. Flat feel. No carbonation. Uh...

Not bad, probably the most available beer in Toronto - every place I walked by had a Stella Artois sign, or umbrellas, or something.

The most mis-used beer in the UK. Know affectionately as ‘the wife beater’ its drunk on mass by the masses. Light golden colour, it should have a strong head (often doesn’t though). When next in Belgium I rate it properly again.
