stephenj007 (25), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 20, 2009 Bottle pour, thin white head, very clear, light golden yellow color. Slightly skunky, a bitterness that is not strong, but hangs around. Aromas and flavors are a little sweet, with some light malt and bitter hops accents. A slight aftertaste, that is strangely refreshing.
I have always liked this brew....something a little different than Heineken when I’m out at the bar....I really like it on draft. guil0000 (99), New Brunswick, Canada Sep 16, 2009 pretty dull in taste and aroma. Not much there to be honest, You only get a small hint of hop. angrybeerman (107), Dublin, Ireland Sep 16, 2009 Updated: Oct 4, 2009Yellow colour with small, disappearing white head. Not much aroma and even less taste. When I say that it had no taste I really mean it. Most tasteless beers (such as the big American names) have a little taste, which is usually offensive. This has less taste but it is not so offensive. A small hint of hops in the mouth and nose is all you get here. So it doesn’t actually taste bad it just doesn’t taste of much at all. I won’t recommend it but it is cheap and better than most international pale lagers. Weissbier (6), California, USA does not count Sep 13, 2009 Nothing truly special -- in the same league as Coors light & Budweiser. Fratto (670), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 13, 2009 I think everyone finally realized that Stella is just a Belgian silver bullet. It has all the same qualities of an American Light. gunnar (486), Sandnes, Norway Sep 12, 2009 Bottle. Pale coluor, skunky aroma. Grassy hops in taste. Standard euro lager popery (132), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 11, 2009 Pretty bad, cheap-tasting lager. In my opinion, Stella Artois is about on par with most American macro lagers. There’s very little to recommend it. The color is a pale, drab yellow. The small white head dissipates very quickly. There’s little aroma, except for a muted cheap malt note, overly sweet and more reminiscent of corn than barley, although I don’t believe that adjuncts are used. The flavor is similarly dominated by a cheap, overly sweet malt flavor. There are some hops in there, I guess. The beer is not entirely without crispness when cold. Still, the feel is rather thin, even for a lager probably based on a pilsner style. Overall, I’m not a fan of Stella. The flavor is unclean, which is a pretty big problem for me in a light lager. foxmania23 (7), Czech Republic does not count Sep 9, 2009 Sour metallic vinegar veneer quickly gives way to boisterously cloying finish which remains acidic but with an off-putting syrupy sweetness reminiscent of over-fermented apples. Strong sour chemical sensation throughout, including morning after. The headiness of the alcohol is apparent from the first taste which isn’t a good sign. Actually it tastes even more alcoholic than it is. Not a very enjoyable drink- Aggressively marketed; Expensive, and not reassuringly so.
