On draft during vacation pours pale golden yellow 1" head, lots of carbonation. Nose of cereal and light hay. Crackery malt body balanced well with grass hop. Crisp mouth.

Actually some bitter flavours, unlike any North American macro and some European ones. Unfortunately there is no hop character and the cloying stewed vegetable taste make this almost undrinkable for me.

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 1C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 52 02:32. AROMA: low grainy aroma with a kind of sulphury background mixed with DMS. no hop aroma. APPEARANCE: very pale straw color and translucent. average white head with average retention. TASTE: mild grainy sweet flavour with low bitterness. finishes somewhat dry. PALATE: thin body with low carbonation. OVERALL: another bulk pale lager with some odd aromas.

Pours a clear pale yellow with white head. Has a grain and grass aroma. Taste is very grainy with grass, spices and light malts. Very watered down light bodied beer and has a bit of a sweet taste.

0,25L bottle (InBev Belgium version). Pours clear golden with white head. The head stays for some moments. Aroma is very sweet, somewhat chemical maize syrup, malt. Flavor is very sweet, malt, some metallic notes, citric notes. Finish has some hoppy notes, but is mostly watery. Overall: sweetness hides some of the flaws, but still not very good.

Una lager molto comune. Sarà anche la più distribuita al mondo, ma non ha certo il primato di essere la migliore nel suo stile

Bottle to glass. Pee yellow with a puffy white head. Smells like a beagle fart. Tastes like pool water. Truly awful.

Appearance: golden color. Good carbonatation. Aroma: a little of hop aroma. Favor: it has citric and grassy notes but nothing more special. Definitely the european lager you will find.

Alengrin (2351) - BELGIUM - OCT 31, 2014
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2014 Belgium’s best known lager started its life as a first-generation ’pils’ in the twenties - and as a Christmas beer. When its brewery Artois joined with Jupiler’s Piedboeuf to form Interbrew, a company policy was established to keep the latter on the home market and to promote Stella primarily as the international brand, which, needless to say, proved very successful. It pours a clear light golden blonde with delicate fizz and builds a snow white, moussy head with good retention and cobweb lacing on the edge of the glass. The aroma has some corn but less disturbingly so than in many other mass marketed macro lagers (including Jupiler) and supported by a bready malt sweetness, a slight hint of iron and some cheesy and grassy hops. Taste is crisp and clean, corn and bready maltiness again, slick with a slight sourishness, minerally carbonation and a gentle, yet pleasant ’European’ leafy and aromatic (Czech) hop bitterness in the finish, in which the initial maltiness also continues. In all: though just another bland standard lager, this very clearly has a more ’noble’ and refined character than Jupiler, if one has to compare. It has a cleaner maltiness, less disturbing corn, less chemical wryness and more genuine hoppiness. I only know one pub which serves both from tap, but if you were to find another one and feel like having a pale lager, be sure to choose this one.
