US Bottle pour - Small fizzy white head atop a well-carbonated, sparkling clear golden body. Smells of grain, grass, and some flowers. Starts off slightly bitter and finishes dry in an almost German Pils fashion. Light-Medium body.

Une bière douce, fragile qui commande une ambiance décontracté et benoîte. Elle calme les esprits et réchauffe l’atmosphère par le velouté de son arôme et son gout pointu!

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2008 Bottle. Very approachable Lager. Golden color with fizzy head that quickly dissipates. Pleasantly bitter aftertaste that is not overpowering. Crisp and refreshing.

UPDATED: JAN 23, 2015 Uma das minhas lagers favoritas, excelente para refrescar, amargor suave que revela um corpo leve, excelente para uma festa ou até numa roda de amigos, além de não ser enjoativa. Recomendo.

On tap at Mile Square in Hoboken. They don’t call it Belgian Bud for nothing. I’m sure this is the shame of Belgium. It is funny to see people drinking it, thinking that they are worldly and knowledgeable about beer.

A mini tasting of Orangeboom Premium Lager (NZ Breweries, Auckland) 5%, Stella Artois (NZ Breweries, Auckland) and Heineken (DB Breweries, Auckland). I tried all three of these licensed brews on a sunny afternoon. They are all similar and all pretty average. The Oranjeboom was the worst - and with sugar listed in the ingredients it should be - it had not much taste, fizz or head and poured the same golden lager colour as the other two. I had this beer in Holland and it was better than the Auckland version. Heineken was the next - slightly more head but not much carbonation. It had an astringent aftertaste that I associate with processed hops and industrial brewing. The Stella was the best of the three with a lasting head and a hint of hops. It amuses me that all three allude to a long brewing history on the labels - O associates itself with 1671, Stella with 1366 (hundreds of years before lager was invented) and H claimes to have been established in 1873 and won a Gold Medal in 1875. That surely must have been the last time it tasted of anything good. This long history is probably supposed to divert the punter from the fact that these beers are crap. These are office drinks beers - the boss gets to say he’s bought the help something exotic and everyone has to be thankful. The tragedy is that for just a pittance more per bottle you can pick up an excellent Macs Sassy Red or similar brew that really is quite tasty.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2004 There’s not much there- very light but fairly well balanced. It would be o.k. on a hot summer day, but not a sipper. I’d rate it above BMC and some of the Mexican beers. At it's price, it's certainly overpriced.
