it was refreshing, but so is water. i read somewhere that this is belgium’s answer to bud. it didn’t have the skanky horse-pee scent of bud, but i can see the resemblance.

(Tap)Deep golden color with decent frothy head. Rotten egg smell, possibly from contaminated draught lines. Light bitterness becomes apparent on swallow.

Clear greenish yellow with thick fizzy white head. Grainy skunky and adjunct laden aroma. Bland watery flavor that’s drinkable but lightly metallic and grainy like rotten cereal. Finishes watery & metallic.

A European Swill Beer. Had this in London I believe. Gold Coloring, no Head. Possibly fruity... not much to quench the tongue...next please...

Pours pale gold with a large white head. Aroma is malty and grassy. Flavor is typical Euro lager. A little sweet, a little grassy and a slightly dry finish. A little skunky in the aroma and flavor, but I will write that off on the green bottle. Not one that I will have anytime soon.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2009 Bottled. Another mass produced lager. This one is malty but also sweet and really quite nasty. Favourite of those Englanders who like getting drunk quick - say no more!Score 1.1

ALLOVATE (2475) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 13, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2005 Tasted, notably, at a romantic dinner to please my fiancé and poured into a stem glass. Glowed a clear gold with large irregular bubbles failing to form a head. Watery thin and overly carbonation leafy corn lager that made me wish I had ordered a glass of wine. Became a little sweet and cloying when it warmed. Bland and lifeless, massively advertised Macro-stew of a beer that didn’t even sit well with my food!!!

If people decided what beer to drink on smell alone, no one would ever drink this beer. I can’t even describe the scent...just that it was awful. The beer itself is a pale yellow with a foamy white head, but not what I expect from a lager. I guess the taste was ok, but again, not what I expected...alot of hops, with only a few bits of malts and a decent amount of bitterness. Very thin body, and the aftertaste matched the original flavor. If you are going to pay for an import, get a Duvel.

Light gold with thin head that has ok retention. Boring nose, some citrus and malt. Similar in the palate with some malt, slightly stale, but is overridden with a dilutive note. It’s amazing in Oz retail that soooo many punters this beer is the business.
