Frisse pils, een van de weinige alcoholische versnaperingen in Egypte. Mooie fles, maar eigenlijk stelt het niet zo veel voor. Toch best fijn voor als je met je natte ballen in het hotelzwembad ligt te dobberen.

Works fine as a thirst quencher in the hot desert climate. A little sour and weak hop flavor.

Im Mittelteil ist dieses Bier leicht hopfig herb, der Nachgeschmack ist weniger herb und wässrig. Geht runter wie Wasser. Ganz in Ordnung, kann mich über dieses Bier nicht beklagen, vielleicht ein wenig zu durchschnittlich. Beim Export meine ich ein wenig mehr Aroma und einen etwas intensiveren Nachgeschmack festmachen zu können. Test vom 8.1.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,9,12,8,9,9 - 9,10

50 cl bottle from a Cruise in the Nile. It pours a clear yellowy-light golden liquid with medium bubbly white head. The aroma is very light; basically hoppy, with a far hint of malt. It smells artificial. About the flavour, very similar: some citron hint, maltier than the aroma, but still artificial. Fizzy carbonation and smooth watery feeling. Refreshing beer, ending slightly bitter. It is unusual to have the chance to choose between different beers in Egypt, but if you pick this one you’ll have a somewhat decent beer. But do not expect much. Regular european commercial lagers are much better, and we tend to underrate them. I suppose this one is a little overrated owing to the fact that you can only choose between Stella or specially awful non-alcoholics. Decent presentation (bottle and crown cap).

Lemony gold brew with a largy white rocky head, some spotty lacing and ok retention for the first half of the glass. It has some skunk to it but nothing offending while remaining fresh overall. Lemons and yeast are prominent with some malts in the background. Tastes pretty good! I was totally suprised. Decent tasty malts that are somewhat subdued, decent fruity undertones and a solid bitterness. Well balanced. Light bodied with a nice creamy enjoyable swish and right at the end , there isn’t much, but a sharp hard bitterness rises up. Leaves the mouth slightly dry.

Not much better than the domestic Stella. Slightly more body, slightly better hops finish. Emphasis on the slightly.

Never tried one cold. Learned to love it warm. It’s a lot better than the six non-alcholic beers I shotgunned on my first night in Cairo.

Definately a good beer when you are in Egypt...in much of the country....the only beer you can find, especially if you wander off the beaten path. Bring home some brew from the country that first brewed beer centurines ago.

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2007 Bottled 0,33L. Creamy and adherent foam, medium duration. Limpid yellow color, discreet fizz. Enough modest scent, light herbaceous and malty notes. Enough smooth tast, little prickly one. Light rumors of cereals and however watery and too much inconsistent. Short and gaunt final.

Pilsner (50 cl. flaske). Kedelig egyptisk øl med megen kulsyre, som dog er god til at slukke tørsten med eller drikke sig fuld i. Hvis der er andre muligheder at vælge i mellem ville jeg aldrig vælge denne.
