COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A remarkable lager whose natural ingredients and brewing method create a uniquely pleasant bouquet. Some beer drinkers note a hint of spiciness, others say the aroma reminds them of a gentle breeze in a pine woods. Called Petrovskoye in Russian. The brew’s mellow taste is due to an extra special variety of yeast. Brewed from 2009 at Bochkarev.

500 ml can @ home May 07,2013 Beer bought in a tiny supermarket in oldtown Saint Petersburg,Russia during a holiday in April and brought back home in my suitcase. Weak golden/yellow in color. Very weak in aroma and taste, but slightly smell and taste of hop and malt. Nothing to remember

500ml can, as Stepan Razin Petrovskoe 1795, 4.9% abv, kindly shared by Elisabeth. Next-to-clear, straw coloured body, Low, white head. Fragile lacing. Smell of sweet and dry, pale malts. Herbal hops and malts in flavour added a kind of candy sweetness. Papery dry palate. Minimal carbonation. Rather bland impression. Below par for the style (session in Tromsø, 19.06.2012).

Medium white head. Yellow body. Peppery apple and milk aroma with papery notes. Dry-sweetish pappery papery taste with grassy notes. Mid-bodied. Dry papery grassy aftertaste lasts a long time, the paper being fairly powerful all the time. Not too horrible, though. Also fairly bitter. (0.5l can, Netto supermarket, St. Petersburg. My can said 5.2%.)

500 ml bottle. Finland. Clear golden colour with small white head. Malty aroma with some cardboard and notes of hops. Sweetish malty flavour with some crisp hoppiness. Goes well with Russian food.

500ml bottle (Kasakka, Helsinki)
Straw colour, brief head. Almost no aroma. Fairly fizzy palate. Initially quite a fruity estery taste. Soft malts too, but fairly thin watery body. Slightly papery in places. However, the whole litre was drinkable without any pain and anguish. Great salty gherkins to go with it!

Pale golden with a dense head. Aroma has some dusty hops and some butter. Flavour is quite short and has more hops and butter. It all ands on a watery note.

(Restaurant Kazak, Helsinki). Nice lager looks. No remarkable nose, but flavor has some really nice hoppiness and some sourness. Very tasty and excellent companion to russian food, loaded with sour cream.

Bottle in Russia. This must be the Bud light of beer in the Russian world because it is the cheapest beer at only $0.15 making it cheaper to buy than water. Still even the cheapest Russian beer is better than a Bud Light. Pretty much your typical and average lager.

Typical lager look, aroma and taste - hops, bitterness; a bit alcoholic. Nothing to write home about.
