TomDecapolis (2419), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 6, 2006 Pours a hazy dark brown, with red and golden when held to the light. Head is bubbly, off white that left some lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar, some caramel, Belgian yeast and some floral hop. Flavor was a muddle of the same things as the aroma...but a lot more toned down and kind of hard to really distinguish anything that really stood out. Kind of watery and thin for a Dubbel. More to the aroma than the flavor.
BeerGestapo (322), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 24, 2008 (Belgium) Pours a nice burgundy color with a long lasting foamy white head. The aroma is of raisins, dark malts, and kind of grassy. The taste is of caramel, figs, and a hint of spices. The mouthfeel is zesty at first but turns kind of metallic in the finish. Overall, not bad but could use a bit of fine-tuning. dmac (848), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2008 1.2 oz bottle ourchased at Spirits RB. Pours a horrible disgusting looking muddy brown with large pieces of green particles pieces that setteled to the bottom. Hey who the hell put green clay in my beer?? No head at all and a flat body. Aroma was slight sweetness, candi sugar, cotton candy and slight pancake syrup. Palate is flat water, no carbonation at all. Flavor is flat with only a slight touch of sweetness, more sugary then fruity, coming through. Wow was this horrible. You know those two guys that have that pod cast where you challenge them to chug things?? Well I’m gonna email them and challenge them to sip this in a snifter .5 oz at a time, two bottles!!!!! Beershine (1214), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2008 Very clear, dark amber. Solid malt, slightly metallic. Sweet and bland. Mild, inoffensive, sessionable, Kwaky. v64 (59), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 Very tasty. Medium head, pours light, murky brown. Slight aroma of dark roast and malts. Excellent balance of dark fruit and hop flavor. It is light for a dubbel, which is actually a pleasant surprise. There are certainly better dubbels, but this is worth a taste or two. MakeItDrinkIt (60), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 11, 2008 Dark garnet brown color with a medium to thin off-white head. Aroma is light toffee, a touch warming, notes of dark stone fruits. Mouth is very effervescent - like a creamy champagne. Flavors of raisins, figs, with hints of chocolate apparent, but vanish quick fast leaving a lightly sweet almost cherry-like flavor.
