Bottle shared with the crew at Volo. Dark brown, bubbly white head. Malt, alcohol, spice aroma. Sweet malt, yeast taste. Some hops. Really nice and sweet. Short finish. Thin, dry. Pretty decent, and very enjoyable and a kick ass bottle.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev at Bar Volo. Pours a clear ruby, somewhat flat looking, with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar and yeast. Sweet flavour is predominently malt along with brown sugar, dark fruit and yeast. Thin bodied. Eh, it’s o.k. but nothing special.

Bottle at Volo - shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & tupalev. Dark ruby-amber colour with a fair sized head. Aroma of malt, dark sugar, with a bit of sour coffee. Flavour of dark fruit, cola and mild chocolate, with a dry, warm finish. Not too bad - and you’ve gotta love the kick-ass ceramic crock that it comes in!

Bottle (750ml). At Volo, shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev. Poured bubbly ruby-mahogany with a huge off-white foamy head, nice lacing. Aroma of woody caramel/brown sugar malt, mild hops, hint of lactose - sweet and yeasty. Taste of toasty caramel, quite bitter (alcohol and light hops), spices and yeast, quite warming. Mouthfeel lightly creamy and syrupy, bitter finish - a decent - if generic - sweet/bitter/roasty spicy belgian (NOT a porter, though).

Aroma is mostly caramel malt that imparts slight raisin notes. Cloudy brown in color with a firm two finger thick head. Flavor is candy sugar and caramel malts. There is a raisin bread and sugar syrup flavor in the finish. It finishes pretty dry with only the malt as an aftertatse. it’s not a bad beer at all it just doesn’t have any range in the flavor.

Bottle. Thanks to "Secret Santa" for this beer. Dark brown with red tints and a beige bubbly head. Aromas are sugar, molasses, berries, sour pear drops and caramel and chocolate malts. Quite herbal and floral. Flavours are molasses, brown sugar, chocolate, and fruit. Also, lots of medicinal herbal notes. Quite smooth on the palate. Pretty good.

Ceramic swing top bottle poured a clear amber with a small off white head. Aromas of brown sugar, fruity, and light spice. Palate was light and dry. Flavors of straw, honey and spice with a dry finish. Sure does’nt seem like a porter to me.

Ceramic bottle capped with a swingtop - Pours very dark brown with absolutely no head at all. Aroma is nutty, caramel, and a bit of candy sugar. Flavor is very similar also a dusty barnyard type of background to this one. Some yeast also. Palate is way too thin and watery. Just not enough body for me. I was definitely more impressed with the bottle than with the beer inside.
