This was coming towards the end of the trip and was had with diner on the plast nite in pelgrom. The aroma is a seriously malty beast. Taste has to warm a litle before can be fully appreciated. Malty, nutty, dark fruits start to come out with soem chocolate towards the end. Seems to be missing something, maybe a little more body is needed, excellent beer with diner all the same, and great bottle it comes in too.
RERATE: Back at Pelgrom, Pelgromstraat, Antwerp. Just and alround excellent beer, but perhaps the setting helps a bit. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 14, 2005 A hazy pale nut brown beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and malty, with very slight hints of roasted malt, much less than expected from a beer called a Porter. The flavor is sweet and seems stronger than the 6.5% ABV, and is very malty as well as slightly roasted. The end is dry. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2005 Thick creamy light brown head, hazy dark brown body. Lots of malt and apple notes in the sweet and rather cloying aroma. Smells a little old and fusty. Dominating malty flavor with roasted and chocolaty notes. Sweet and smooth and easy drinkable. Not overly interesting, but a good drinkable beer. TheBeerGod (3147), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2005 Bottle - ceramic and capped but has a swing top. Mahogany body with a tall fluffy tan head. Nose is sweet malts, caramel, raisins, and light nuttiness. Taste is slightly bitter chocolate, caramel, raisins, sweet malts and light yeast. Body is lighter than it should be but still retains an above average carbonation feel. Finishes with a flavor like a nut fudge brownie. More bitterness and floral notes than before. Light yeast as well. Not too horrible. caesar (3032), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2005 Hazy brown color, medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, not too complex. Some fruit. Sweet taste, quite off-balance, some orange. Not very good, like all the brews of the former Sterkens brewery. No wonder they closed it. NoiZe (1290), Mooi Zeist, Netherlands
