Caramel malty, earthy, skunky and weird aroma. Cloudy, brown coloured with a lasting, brown, medium head. Taste is sweet, caramel malty, fruity (oranges. Ceasar -> Oranges are big mandarins. Noize -> Mandarins are small oranges) Good body, bit sparkling beer.

"Brewed according to the purity laws of 1516". Hmmm, so what kind of unfiltered crap might be in this giant clay bottle? Actually, it was pretty nice. Not a porter mind you, but more a dark ale. Deep copper brown with a large beige head that formed interesting little peaks and islands as it settled. Caramel and brown sugar aroma, although I had to really search for it. Decent palate with nutty toasted malt and a slightly bitter finish. Thin bodied, but nice overall. DEFINITELY not worth the $20 I paid for a single bottle though! (...what was I thinking...)

(Bottle 75 cl) This original version was brewed by Brouwerij Sterkens in Meer. Dark brown colour with a nice, beige head. Some roasted, malty notes and some sweet dried fruit as well - figs in particular. Rather light body with a dry finish. Very well balanced. 210598

Curious name for this beer that is so obviously not a porter. It pours a cloudy, light brown body with a bubbly white head that vanishes almost immediately. It’s got a very wine-like aroma, hot sweet malt, dark brown sugar, and alcohol. A bit thin in the mouth, it has a burning, sweet malt taste, nicely spiced, with a long dry finish. Nice bottle.

Rocky off-white head with a lot of big bubbles on a clear cherry/cola coloured body. Head doesn’t last fully but left layers of wispy lacing all the way down the glass. Deep roasted malt, dried fruit and caramel aroma. Thin mouthfeel with some soft spice showing, light in carbonation, some burnt brown sugar, a little watery, thought the alcohol would have been a little higher by the taste of it. Overall pleasant enough to drink.

Very dissapointed with this beer. Cool bottle, so I figured why not, and for $10 it better be good. Well it’s a fairly bland, average tasting drink. Will not try again, not worth it.

Bottled 75 cl (BB 06/2007)
Dark ruby color, cloudy expresso head, lace. Berry aroma, malts, hints of cardboard. Medium-bodied, but a bit watery palate. Barley, roasted flavor, also berry-like tones. "Watered barley wine".

(Ceramic-bottled, 0.75l) Clear, dark blood-red color with a large, frothy and lacy head. Roasted-malty, neutral aroma, slightly sour and stuffy. Roasted, sweet-toffeeish flavor with burned sugar. Medium-bodied, acidic and quite low-carbonated palate. A scotch ale/barley wine - like (but milder) "porter".
