| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2005 Well... The bottle was very neat upping the appearance a bit. 750 ml bottle at Mr. Liquor. Dark ruby color with a decent head. Head dissapated, but left lacing all the way down the glass. Aromas of caramel and some spice. Flavor was a bit thin, but there was some sweet notes and some malt in there too. Not bad, OK.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2005 Beer pours medium mahogeny color with a big, mostly dissipating tan colored head. Aroma is malty and yeasty very akin to many Abbey Dubbels. Flavor is likewise sweet malt, a touch of raisin, and the finish is yeasty, dry. Glad to rate it, but won’t purchase again. Very nice crockery. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 1, 2005 Ruby rust, small bubbly head of dusty yellowed foam comes to surface as it glugs its way out of the tall ceramic jug. Sticky thin lacing coats well as it wavers.
Aroma is faint of a starfruit sweetness and yellow raisiny tang.
Flavor is a little strange at first but grows on ya after awhile, but also gets boring and tedoius and makes it hard to continue any kind of consumption. Mildly tangy and sweet with a soft toffee and sugar cookie plainness. Some notions of cocoa dust the finish with a slight drying late along with a bit of sugar and a touch of roast. It’s like drinking a really subpar, under baked sugar cookie.
Feel is quick and softly carbonated in most areas, some weird, off heavy spots and slight chalk textures. Lighter medium body overall with a slight dry finish.
This is the pinnacle of average for the style. OK, but no keeper. KAggie97 (2427), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Ceramic flip-cap bottle. Pours dark velvet, and the nose is of raisins. If this is a porter, then I’m a broadway dancer. This is more like a cross between a brown ale and an amber. It’s good stuff, with the malt coming through with a strong whisper. A slight raisin taste is evident at first, followed by a nice subdued roasted nut flavor. Good stuff, just not worth the price! I can still get this at Spec’s in Houston, but I guess once their supply is out, it’s over.
