Ceramic bottle. Dark brown pour with a massive tan head. Three inches plus. Aroma is fruity. Taste is some roasted malts and some fruit. Body is light and despite the large head, so is the carbonation.

As Hoogstraten Porter. Clear dark brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, dark malt, light roasted malt, dried fruit and spicy. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 071011

Cloudy reddish brown, large foaming head. Rich fruity nose, alot of pineapple and indistinct tropical fruit. Flavor similar but turns towards a semidry cocoa element at the finish. Somewhat full bodied with a fluffy carbonation. Decent beer.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2012 500mL ceramic swing top bottle. Pours a deep amber brown color with tan head and lovely lace. Aromas of toasty malt and chocolate. Tastes sweet and chocolatey up front, followed by some bitterness on the end. A little harsh, but I still enjoyed drinking this one.

jug at dak’s on 8/14/10. pours a pale orange tinted porter brown with a tannish off white cap. it smells and tastes a lot like the kruikenbier... flowers, malt, doughy grain, raisins and spicy hops. it is prickly and dry with a medium body. again, meh. 6/3/6/3/13

Hoogstraten Poorter Pours dark Mahogany with a medium tan head. Good retention, but does not resemble its namesake. Aroma of raisins, a little metal, yeasty funk, and some some vanilla. Nice. Flavor is somewhat metallic. Very smooth flavor with a bubbly mouth. Notes of yeast, cried fruits and earthy malts.

A tasty beer but on the lighter side for spiciness. Would be excellent to blend with a barleywine. Smooth and easy to drink. Classic Belgian beer.

Poured from the very unique ceramic bottle. I really bought this to bottle my home brew in this bottle because it is so neat! Poured dark brown, with a decent head. Aroma is nice, roasted, and died fruit, reminded me of lagunitas brew. Flavour was disapointing, not bad, but not as delicious as I’d hoped. Mouthfeel is thick and oily. Finishes with a overcarbonated/ cardboardy taste. Overall its OK to drink, and I may buy more, but mostly for the ceramic bottle.

A: The pour is a dark amber color with about a finger of off-white head. S: Lots of malty sweetness with a definite dark fruit aroma which consists mostly of plums, black cherries, and raisins. There is a mild roasted malt quality and some nice toffee, chocolate, and caramel. T: While the beer smells nice, there is a bit of a cardboard flavor to it. The sweetness is still there with plenty of toffee, chocolate, and caramel, along with the fruitiness. A mild to moderate roasted malt quality and a fair amount of yeast. M: Medium in body with a moderate level of carbonation. O: Smelled quite nice and tasted pretty good as well. Not a bad beer.
