A hazy pale nut brown beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and malty, with very slight hints of roasted malt, much less than expected from a beer called a Porter. The flavor is sweet and seems stronger than the 6.5% ABV, and is very malty as well as slightly roasted. The end is dry.

(Bottle 75 cl) This original version was brewed by Brouwerij Sterkens in Meer. Dark brown colour with a nice, beige head. Some roasted, malty notes and some sweet dried fruit as well - figs in particular. Rather light body with a dry finish. Very well balanced. 210598

Bottled. Dark ambe with creamy head. Roasty coffee aroma. Sweet, malty and fruity, notes of plums. Woody, salty and quite pleasant. I'm always suspicious on beers in too fancy or gimmicky bottles, but this does impress.

75 cL bottle. Pours hazy amber with a collapsing off-white head. Spiced and roasted malty aroma. Spiced and vague roasted malt base flavour with a light bitterness coming through. Quite spiced and yet smooth caramelish into the finish.

Bottle. Malty aroma. Nice brown colour. Sherry/wine-like undertones reminding me of old/vintage beer.

Ceramic bottle. Ruby red colour (alt. reddish brown), big offwhite head (no matter how you poured it, it foamed lots). Aroma is licorace, yeast, malts and caramel. Licorace, malts, yeast and caramel is in the flavour. Very smoothly mixed. Alcohol brings a bit sweetness to the whole, but is not disturbing.
