yngwie (13346) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 22, 2012
Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body and a dense, off-white head. Itís rather sugary on the nose, with fruit syrup and some piney hops. Itís quite dry on the palate, but tastes quite a bit like white sugar. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. Thereís fruityness and bitterness too in the flavor, but itís still a rather boring one. Yet another generic Belgian style ale that I donít see a use for. 120622

(Bottled, the 10/12/07 canít really be bottling date, even though the label says so... should last for 4 years) Hazy-murky golden with a smallish, quite firm and lacy head. Lots of floating yeast. The aroma is indeed diacetyl, some pea-soup and cardboard. Although this sounds bad, it actually smells reasonably pleasant and interesting. Yeast brings in hints of ginseng and - well, yeast. Honeyish malt in the flavor, with diacetyl and some grassy hops. Medium to full-bodied, silky-smooth palate (especially with yeast), and not too much carbonation. I actually liked this very much, and the diacetyl fits in here perfectly. Yeast helps a lot with the balance, and although it has probably been aged in the shop shelves for a few years, it has survived pretty well. Too bad it was apparently the last bottle in Bacchus Cornelius... The bottle deposit was stated in BF, not Euros - so it may be the one and only batch ever.
