RBESG 2016 in Barcelona. Cask at the Garage. Amber colour. A standard English best bitter - which means not very bitter at all, rather malty in both aroma and flavour, actually. Smooth and nice enough to drink though,

Cask in The Garage Brewpub, Barcelona with the RBESG guys on 9th July 2016. Really enjoyed this. Good, deep amber body, full off-white head. Light malts lead the way in both the nose and taste with a gentle fruitiness in the background: decent clean bitterness within the flavour and a joy to find: surrounded as it was by keg Citrus Golds and heavy Imp Stouts.

Had to pick this one given that I share a name with the brewer. It was a very decent dark bitter with earthy herbal hopping, a change of pace from the floral citrus stuff I’d been drinking up until that point. Would really shine on cask

1/2 Pint @ Fira de cervesa Sant Antoni. Pours golden with small white head. Both aroma and taste are a blend of lemon and orange along with pale malts. Bitter as a beer like this should be. Very little sweetness. Light body, good carbonation. Quite simple, but it’s something nice to start with before trying more serious stuff.

In short: A toasted and relatively hoppy golden ESB. Good beer.
How: Tap at Bar ANIMAL, Madrid.
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a persistent large off -white head.
In long: Nose is very toasted along with dry leafy hops with a strong spicy twist. In mouth the beer feels crispy, a medium body with an appropriate medium carbonation. Taste proposes crisp toasted cereals that are slightly caramelized, dried fruits skin and a hefty amount of leafy-wooden hops with a fun spicy twist. And I see here that this beer is brewed by a contract brewery called Steve Huxley and it is brewed at a brewery called George Wright, so I can only conclude that the British are not very good at naming inanimate things.
