Holy Christmas! Aroma: gingerbread, eggnog herbal, spicy cardamom, cinnamon. Dark chocolate colour with a yellowy cover and lace. Flavour: lots of ginger and nutmeg that comes in with a nice sweetness but does not develop into a pumpernickel grainy malt as expected. Coriander and cardamom notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, spicy and herbal finish. harrisoni (5382), Ashford, Kent, England Oct 6, 2008 On tap at EBF 08. Very intense spice on aroma. Malty christmas cake. Huge f*** off spice. It’s got some warming good English Ponterfract cake liquorice. Nice. Maria (4461), Thisted, Denmark Oct 5, 2008 EBF2008. It’s beautiful red-brown and the aroma is hoppy and fruity, but it also has notes of dark fruits (raisin), spice, malt and caramel. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of caramel, raisin, fruity hops, spices and licorice. It’s a nice and well balanced beer. Rune (1812), Tromsø, Norway Oct 2, 2008 Sampled from bottle at EBF 08. Dark, orange body with a bubbly surface. Spicy oats to the nose. Dark, sweet fruits in flavour with a liquorice edge. Modest bitter endnotes. Foamy mouthfeel and smooth palate. To my liking (13.09.2008). stobbe74 (254), Denmark Sep 27, 2008 Sampled at EBF2008. Pours an unclear brown beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is sweet licorice and anis. The flavor follows the nose and has some other spices too. The mouthfeel is sweet and as the seasonal beer it is quite ordinary.
