Scopey (3243) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2013
Bottle from Deeside Drink Emporium. It pours dark brown a medium beige head. The nose is roasty, earth, chocolate, coconut, oily and hint of vanilla. The taste is soft roast, earth, cocoa, coconut, dark choc bounty bar and light toast with a pretty dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well balanced, thankfully coconut is not overdone. Rather tasty stuff indeed.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. A black beer with a very quickly disappearing tan head. It has rich chocolate and sweet coconut flavours followed by slight liquorice on the finish.

I must have missed something, because this didn’t do anything for me. Thin (granted it’s only 4.5), not a great deal of coconut and the traditional porter roast was benign and ineffectual. Easy drinking, but the slightly sour finish put me right off.

suprchunk (1393) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - OCT 22, 2012
Black colored pour. Small off-white head that quickly falls and leaves minimal lacing. Smells of malt, and...that’s pretty much it. Some slight chocolate notes, but really faint. Tastes of slight chocolate and malts. Not bad. No coconut aroma or flavor whatsoever. At least I’m not getting any, and I love coconut.

Aroma: Mild aroma of plain chocolate, milky coffee and coconut. Smells more boozy than it’s 4.5% ABV suggests.

Appearance: Dark brown body with ruby highlights. Tiny, light brown head than quickly fades. Very little lacing.

Taste: Rich, dark malts with a subtle coconut flavour. The finish has a burnt/bitter taste. Tastes better as the beer warms.

Palate: Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Lively carbonation - possibly overcarbonated.

Overall: This is a really interesting beer. I’d really like to try a stronger, more flavoursome version.

Cask (Gravity dispense) at 7th Bexley Beer Festival on 12 April 2012. Very dark colour - inky and almost opaque. Certainly a good looking beer. Toasty coconut is certainly evident. Also something a bit rum-like. Dry and tasty. A delicious drop.

Skyview (5023) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Received 500 ml bottle via summer Secret Santa. Pours an opaque dark brown colored porter with an average sized beige head that slowly disappears and leaves behind some nice lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some mild floral hops, hint of coffee and some light cream tartar. Taste is light to medium bodied, soft carbonation with flavors of dry English dark malts, a hint of floral hops and a little ash. Finish as a solid English style porter that is not overly chocolate per American varieties and finish with a mild short lived bitterness. Coconut presence is minimal if any.
