On tap at the Bow Bar, Edinburgh. Deep golden colour, long lasting white head. Slightly unusual hop character, quite sweet,a little boozy and some slightly corny slightly syrupy fruit maybe pineapple in the finsh. A bit heavy, cloying, strong to be truly sessionable. Nice enough for a pint but not very exciting.

Bottle from Akiyama Liquor Store (Kochi). Light grassy nose, with some thin fruity hopping, and some citrus. Medium amber/straw color. Light grass, medium bittering, smooth finish. Flavors fade quickly. Thin body. Okay. Nothing really stands out in this one.

Cap explodes off with a gush of pent up fury, but luckily the beer remains intact. Into a snifter at just on cool it goes and a heady, honeyed papaya wafts up to greet me. It settles more head than beer. A looming, noisy, two inches of rocky foam atop a hazy orange copper body. The nose seems more Belgian Tripel than Golden ale. Yeasty, fruity, spicy with bready undertones and a hint of dried herbs. Quite rounded, sweet and tangy on the palate. Again yeasty and bready like the nose, but fuelled by high effervescence which sees it slip passed the tonsils with radical ease. Dries out in the swallow showing big, bold papaya and guava notes, a light orange zest bitterness and just a little lemon rock candi. This seems a bit hit and miss by the look of the ratings but I find it approachable and refreshing. The flavour profile is still more Belgian than not, but it works. Good stuff! Scopey (7444) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2014
Cask at the Isles Inn, Portree. It pours hazy gold with a thick white head. The nose s is sweet, doughy, grainy and light toast. The taste is toasty, doughy, grainy, cereal, underlying sweetness and lemon with a dry, sort of bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A fairly ho hum golden, from a brewery that I know can do a lot better.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear medium gold, with a very large white head, which lasts well and leaves decent lacing. Crisp, spicy pilsener hops lift the aroma, but doughy yeast drags it back down again. Spicy, mildly peppery hops up front give way to white bread malt and doughy yeast in the mid-palate. Crisp, pilsener hops finish it off. Overall, this would be a decent sessionable light ale, were it not dragged down by too much bland yeast flavour. I had the same problem with Stewart’s Hollyrood, and I really think they need to sort it out.

Cask at Guildford Arms. Pours clear gold with a good white head. Light biscuit malt aromas, some toffee and citrus. Good balance of sweet and bitter on the taste, more biscuit coming through. Gentle carbonation, good mouthfeel. Nice, solid beer.
