Commercial Description:
Cask; Status uncertain.
.Named in the tradition of numbering beers according to their strength and colour. A full bodied, smooth, 4.3% cask conditioned ale, with an intense colour, rich malty taste, and a clean finish. Brewed using soft Scottish water, 4 types of malt, (including generous proportions of black & crystal), subtly balanced using only a small amount of the finest fresh hop cones.

Cask-conditioned at the State Bar, Glasgow 2/07/09. Dark brown with reddish hints and a decently sized, off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with a touch of toffee. Slightly vinous mouth feel, with more sweetish fruit and a softly bitter finish. Good.

Mini Cask BB-07 at Blackfriars. Big thanks to Tom the Cad. Darkish brown colour with low beige head. Juniper and apple nose, the latter from slight oxidation perhaps. Super smooth mouthfeel. Good maltiness still stalwart, with only slight notes of old. Amazing how a low abv can survive this long (with The Cad).

Cask (handpump) @ Halfway House, 24 Fleshmarket Close, Edinburgh, Scotland EH1 1BX.
Clear medium to dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration, and some prune notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090408]

Cask, State Bar, Glasgow. Beautifully smooth, black-red ale, with an off-white head. Aroma subtle, the flavour is faintly fruity. Has a luscious aftertaste of cherry, raspberry and blackberry. Not as thick or as harsh as the old Youngers No. 3 was and probably not meant to be.

Cask - Planet Thanet Beer Festival ’09. A deep reddy brown beer with a small beige head. Burnt malt and fruit aromas combine on the nose with a hint of nuttiness. Flavours of red fruits, some spicey elements and a light finishing bitterness. Supple and warming mouthfeel.

Cask, half pint by air pressure dispense. Off-white head just covering the surface of a beautiful, deep mahogany body. Smell of dark malts. Slightly roasted blend of coffee, caramel and chocolate in flavour, even with some fruity hints coming through towards the ending. Round and comfortable in the mouth [Mini beer festival at Abbotsford Bar in Edinburgh, 25.10.2008].

From cask at Blackfriars. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is light malty and slight roasted aroma. Light bitterness and mild roasted note showing through. Dry and malty finish with a vague acidic note coming through. Nice one.

Absolute heaven. A dark pint with a malty nose and a hint of caramel and vanilla. These flow through to the tastebauds well but a hint of berry fruitiness is added for good measure. I tried this in the state bar in Glasgow. It was so good we stayed there the rest of the night, and even went back the next.
