Cask at the Bow Bar. Pours a deep amber with a well-formed but short-lived head. Aroma is light coffee, malt and berries. Taste is sweet and smooth, with very little bitterness. Resiny and sweet, with a reasonable aftertaste. Not bad, very drinkable.

CAsk in Edinburgh. Very deep copper. Malty beer, a bit spicy. Gingerbread, caramel, vanilla. Some roasted grain, too. The bitterness is well hidden here.

Dark reddish-brown. The aroma has rich fruits and dark sugars. Sweetish, slightly fruity with caramel accents. Decent complexity. Soft body. Sweetish finish. A good one, their best beer.

Cask @ Guildford Arms. Garnet with a great head. Great bready aroma with currants. Flavors are similar with lots of sweet dried fruits, currants and sultanas. Good bread crust malt flavors. Very nice!

Cask@GBBF2010. Deep brown colour, small head. Aroma is bready and caramel malty, some mild dark dry fruits, mild leathery notes as well as some nuttyness. Flavour is mildly ashy, leathery, caramel malty and dark fruity. Quite pleasant.

Cask at 5th English Rose Beer Festival, Luton, Bedfordshire. Very dark brown. Sweet, musty aroma of ripening silage. Leathery taste with a hint of aniseed. Slight bitterness. Rough and rather pleasing.

Cask at the Halfway House, Edinburgh. Described by the bar man as “heavy,” and it was compared to the other beers that day. Dark brown with red. Thick, rich, and malty, yet not overly sweet. Good balance and nice.
