Dark reddish-brown. The aroma has rich fruits and dark sugars. Sweetish, slightly fruity with caramel accents. Decent complexity. Soft body. Sweetish finish. A good one, their best beer.

Cask @ Guildford Arms. Garnet with a great head. Great bready aroma with currants. Flavors are similar with lots of sweet dried fruits, currants and sultanas. Good bread crust malt flavors. Very nice!

Cask at the Halfway House, Edinburgh. Described by the bar man as “heavy,” and it was compared to the other beers that day. Dark brown with red. Thick, rich, and malty, yet not overly sweet. Good balance and nice.

Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival Day 3, August 2006. Dark brown colour. Malty aroma and flavour - some fruit. So far, pretty much in line with conventional wisdom on the character of Scottish (geographically rather than stylistically) beers. However, there is a light dusting of earthy hops towards the finish. Not particularly to my taste but decent enough.

Cask-conditioned at the State Bar, Glasgow 2/07/09. Dark brown with reddish hints and a decently sized, off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with a touch of toffee. Slightly vinous mouth feel, with more sweetish fruit and a softly bitter finish. Good.
