On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Pours a dark amber colour with a little glint of red. The head is well proportioned. The nose has mainly malty flavours but it doesn’t have any of the chocolate notes I expect from a Mild, there’s some biscuitiness instead.. I’d call this a bitter. Much the same on the taste. The palate has a medium body and texture but the finish could be a bit more refreshing - there’s some malt astringency. Overall, it’s solid but not one of their best beers. May have to revisit.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2013 Re-rate 21/09/2013, Dark red/brown, with a medium off-white head. Dark fruit, caramel malt. Sweet with a light bitter finish. Smooth texture, light carbonation. Think I was a bit harsh on this last time, I really enjoyed this pint. 6-4-6-4-12 = 3.2. Deep red/orange colour. Slight sweet taste, dark fruit, mild bitterness. Creamy texture. Ok but not that exciting. 4-3-5-3-9 = 2.4, 31/5/2013.

Cask at Lyric, Soho. It pours deep ruby, with a tiny beige head. The nose is earth, wood, treacle and burnt toffee. The taste is toast, earth, wood, bitter cocoa, berry, dark fruit, vinous aspect and faint tartness with a rather dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Not bad.
