[cask at Bow Bar, Edinburgh] Clear coppery golden beer with a night white head from the Aitken dispense. Aroma of sweet toffee and caramel, biscuity malt. Similar flavours. Very decent session quaffer, the caramel edge thankfully doesn’t become too sweet at any point [11122012]

Tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in November 2011. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear garnet red in colour with a thin white head. hints of berry fruit in the short lived, sweet aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Mixed malts give a sweet maltloaf base of juicy raisins and pommegranates. Bitter hop resins give a metallic tang in the short aftertaste but these fade quickly away. Malt dominates through into the fruity finish with a distinctive caramel and oak cask notes. An ok session bitter.
