Bottle from the Beer Hive. Amber with haze. Sugar nose, medium body and hops. Very drinkable and great to see Stewarts pushing beyond their standard fare.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap @ the Scran and Scallie.
Appearance - amber with a nice head.
Nose - biscuits, citrus perhaps some apples.
Taste - biscuit and apples and some lemon on the finish.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a fairly refreshing finish.
Overall - this is in the direction of a bitter in my opinion. A decent drop though.

Cask at Red Squirrel. Pours copper with a good white head. Aromas of red fruit and toffee caramel bready maltiness. Good bitterness, but I could take more in the style, malts come through nicely. Medium to light body, flat carbonation. Good finish. Enjoyed this.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. It pours clear reddish-brown with a medium white head. The nose is caramel, wood polish, red berry and sponge. The taste is smooth, caramel, wood, red berry, touch of jam and brown bread with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, easy going stuff. Ok.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2014 Bottle from the brewery. Murky amber body with a thick off-white head that slowly fades. Great lacing. Aroma of caramel and red fruits. Lovely balance of malt and hops - sweet caramel, wood and red fruit flavours. Nice yeastiness. Medium body with a very oily texture. Soft carbonation. I’m not sure if this is strong, bitter or hoppy enough to be classed as an IPA, but who cares - this is delicious and has a lovely cask conditioned quality to it. Dare I say, Kernel-esque? [cask at SRAF’12] Reddish brown beer with a decent bubble white head. Caramel and slightly resinous woody aroma. Caramel on the taste, with some red berry fruitiness. The finish goes a bit dry and slightly woody again – everything’s there, but maybe it needs a little more of each component

Cask at sraf. Copper with little bubbly white head. Fairly weak aroma, some pine, little grapefruit, caramel and must. Taste has caramel, toffee, pine, yeast, some alcohol. Warm, flat, fair bitterness. Bit boring but ok
